Crab Louie's Bistro — Restaurant in Monterey

HORRIBLE !!!!!! I went on Mother’s Day 2021. I asked our server what dish I should try as it was Mother’s Day I wanted to treat myself . I was recommended the seafood pasta. I did NOT enjoy the pasta it was very bland and lukewarm when I got it. When I asked if I could exchange it for the seafood salad I was simply told okay. . MOVING FORWARD. My daughter who is 4 had to use the restroom the African American employee told me (I am also African American )I could take her into the bistro to use the bathroom however when I asked for directions from another employee(not African American ) I was told the bathroom didn’t work and to use the public restroom. I tried to tell him I was given permission but he brushed me off. It wasn’t until I started getting stern that he then wanted to apologize . AFTER THAT! We get our bill and I notice I was charged for both the pasta I sent back and the salad I was currently staring at. When I asked why I was being charge the African American waiter who had been waiting on my table began to tell me things like “ oh well that’s a lot of food you gotta pay for that” “ you are the only person here who didn’t like it . “ In an attempt to guilt trip me for not liking this signature dish. It was simply not good to me and while I trying to be civil , he continued on stating “ there’s nothing wrong with the food everyone orders it and likes it.” As if I am not allowed to not a dish! He then says oh I have to go ask the manager/owner to adjust then bill. I told him to bring the owner to the table and I would explain to him myself if need be. Only then the story changed and he now had to “call” when I said I’m happy to speak with him on the phone the story changed AGAIN . Needless to say at this point I was STILL hungry and not irritated by the sub par food and service . As he was mumbling under his breath I kindly told the party of 10+ mothers and children that were coming in I would not waste my Mother’s Day or money in this establishment. From denying my child a bathroom while we were dining in the bistro to fighting with me about not liking the food and the straight up lack of integrity I would never advise anyone to eat at this establishment . $164.00 later and I will never go back! I would never advise anybody deal with this place if this is how they treat customers who come to celebrate their loved ones with them!!! . The restaurant, "Crab Louie's Bistro," implied a false advertisement by charging a fund of 18% for parties of 6 or more guests. During my family's first time at that place, we discovered that the manager deceived her own words and was ignorant to listen what my family had to say about our bills. My family was separated into a group of four tables with only 3-5 guests at each table. When the manager and the waiter gave each of us other bills, we noticed an inaccurate service fee.

Two of our tables received no service charge because they sustained a group lower than 6 guests. Unlikely for the other two groups in my family, we were charged a 20% service fee even though we each took a small party of 3-4. This had frustrated my family because we demanded a valuable reason to why the manager has charged half of my family 20%. We all paid separately.

The manager was ignorant and didn't desire to answer our question. This restaurant is run very blindly, that the employees couldn't even coherent their own policy from their menu. It averred that, "A Service Charge of 18% will be added to parties of 6 or more," my family isn't even in that range. We were totally divided into smaller groups, therefore, we were lower than 6 people and paid separately.

The waiter gave half of my family the correct quantity, but the manager didn't for the other half. When my entire family tried to confront the manager, questioning her about the service fee, she hid behind the cashier. Afraid to even talk to her own customer. Pathetic. This place is run like a bunch of clowns, they DON'T even know how to run their own business.

Additionally, the food was disgusting and sloppy. For my seafood pasta, there wasn't any meat inside the clams and barely any shrimps. The dish looked as if it was dumped and not prepared professionally like a chef.

In our suggestions, please consider your family somewhere that has a reliable advertisement and provide better dishes...

So outside they tell you free appetizer which is the calamari so I asked if they have tentacles with it. They said yes we can make it with or without. I go in with my brother. It's his birthday lunch. He wants to go in here... We sit down and the waitress kept coming up to us every 45 seconds. And yes I was counting five times and we couldn't even discuss anything by the 5th time she says. Do you need help? Can I assist? And I'm like no. We looked already at the two of the three menus you gave us. Is there an issue with us sitting here? Do you have a problem with this because you're you're up in my face so much... She immediately went to the cook. Brought him out tall gudark guy He comes over very nicely but it was too late.. your waitress is pushy. Then I give him the order me and my brother who's older than me and then I asked him about the appetizer. It's going to be tentacles right? They said no no tentacles... What that's why we're in here for the calamari with tentacles. So I stand up to leave and my brother asked me are you going to leave? Yes, I'm leaving to everyone's surprise. I'm leaving yes I'm going to leave. I'm born and raised here. I know exactly what I can get on this wharf and this restaurant right here is not good. Then I asked him do you want to stay? Do you want to eat here? And his reply was yes .... In the end he says Michelle. We had really bad service. I spent $76 and that's not including a tip I'm not ever going in this restaurant again... The grotto is my place and anything that Christopher shake owns because he's on top of it. He's always there and he's professional with his appearance and respect with his customers which his staff extends 110%.. Crab Louie is a tourist attraction Anyone can go in there and and be happy.
