A Hidden Gem on the Pier - Loulou’s Griddle In the Middle
I stumbled upon this restaurant during a morning scooter ride while riding in the city and it turned out to be a great spot. This charming little spot offers everything you could want to start your day off right.
The setting is absolutely perfect—right on the pier, with stunning views of the water and seeing people board their boats, and kayaks. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with a warm and welcoming vibe that makes you feel like a local, even if you're just visiting.
The menu, though small, is packed with delicious options. I had the Monterey omelette with potatoes and it was fantastic—fresh, and flavorful. The portions were generous, and everything tasted homemade with a lot of love and care. The coffee was excellent too, strong and smooth, just what I needed to kickstart my day. They even refill your cup.
What really stood out was the friendly service. The staff was genuinely kind and attentive, going out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. They’re also happy to share recommendations about the best things to see and do in the area, which was a nice bonus.
If you’re looking for a spot to enjoy a delicious breakfast with a view, Loulou’s is a must-visit. It’s a true hidden gem, and I can’t wait to return on my next trip!
Only negative was the wait time… We arrived with no reservation and were told it would be 30-45 minutes. It ended up being 65 minutes until we sat down, however, the food came out quickly after ordering.
TIP Call ahead and place your name on the list. Also, review the menu so you know what to order when you...

I believe it was one of the owners a very nice lady came over to chat with us. She recommended a walk for us to take to Cannery Row which we did do and loved every minute of it. This truly is a gem.

Read moreThis restaurant is absolutely perfect, in my opinion. It is everything you could possibly ask for in a breakfast place. Clean, clear, concise menu. And everything on it is delicious. This has become our go-to breakfast destination when we visit Monterey Bay. Originally, we visited because of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. We keep coming back because the staff here genuinely seem happy and act like family. The food is consistently cooked, seasoned, and served at the highest quality. There's usually a wait, because this place is no secret, so show up early to put your name down and walk the pier while you wait. It's worth it. We've waited upwards of an hour with a smile on our face for Loulou's. Enjoy the view, the weather, and everyone around you while you eat. Across the few times we have eaten here we've eaten the chocolate chip hubcap cake, the berry hubcap cake, the 2 egg breakfast, the sourdough french toast, and the clam chowder. All of it was top notch amazing! While we ate, the kitchen staff sang songs, the waitstaff sang along while running food and refills. It felt surreal. Like it was from a corny movie. But it was amazing, kept a smile on our face the whole meal, and had us talking about it the whole weekend. Loulou's will always be a mandatory stop any time we visit...
