You want a great burger? Go here. Really. Was a "restaurant in the area" search after kayaking and less than 8 minutes from the little miami. Very friendly staff and clean cozy space.
The menu was mainly just variants of the super delicious grass fed beef burger that is available in 1/4, 1/3, and 1/2 pound patties. Love the size option. Repeat. Love the size options. Should be available everywhere. Had a wonderful buger last week, but was only half pound option. A bit much for me. At least that day. Also available for non beef eaters were salmon, (i think vegan patties and chicken too..i forget exactly..)
Anyway. Many many options for toppings. I went with the 1/4# Aloha, which featured fresh, grilled pineapple and bacon. I love fresh, grilled pineapple on a burger. Try it. Was served with "spicy" bbq sauce on the side. I don't do "spicy" and there was not a sweet or mild option available. I did taste it, and did not come across as super spicey, but it doesn't matter. My burger was so perfect it needed no sauces.
As much as i love bacon, i will generally avoid burgers that feature it. Most always come out not great. But when i see not only pineapple, but also fried egg and goetta as options, i felt good about the bacon today. And it was spot on perfect. Just the right amount of crispy, but still juicy. Not chewy or stringy as much of the "burger bacons" are.
The burger itself was fersure one of the best patties that i have ever had. Ordered medium well and received exactly as that. Very nice almost crunch on the surface, very juicy and consistant just past pink inside. Next time i will order the 1/3, but the 1/4 was just enough to enjoy the last bite without feeling stuffed. My 2 friends ordered the 1/3, one of them finished, the other nearly did hahah
We also had a large sized order of garlic parm fries that we shared. Super tasty, and vey large bowl of fries. If we had a 4th, we would have polished it off. But for 3 people, it was plenty.
I went with cola, but they had a decent selection of craft beers, and i think a full bar with liquor and mixed drinks available.
The service was prompt and the food came out quickly. Very friendly, the owner checked to make sure we were happy and seemed very friendly and approachable.
My only, and it is so minor that i almost don't want to mention.., but i gotta keep it real, is the pineapple slice could have been a bit thicker. Maybe not everybody likes it as much as me, and it was very present in the flavor and "bite" but i would rather it be a big ole slab. Not just a slice. I'm talkin nearly as thick as the pattie hahaha. I will ask for a thicker cut next time, or maybe 2 slices.
I will 100% be going back again, maybe even tomorrow, if we get off the river before they close. If you get a chance, you should definitely check them out. My 2 companions agreed. Top 5 in the...
Read moreThe restaurant is small with a bar that seats 10 and 12 tables. No waiting area and multiple seats adjacent to the front door so bring a heavy jacket in the winter months. Good beer selection but 12oz cans at $4 domestic and $5 local craft, you wont want more than one. Similarly priced wine selections also available.
Bones is still transitioning from food truck to sit down restaurant. Owner acted as host and was working hard. Server was courteous and moderately attentive but visibly overwhelmed with a full house. They still need to figure out who they are and hone it in.
The menu had a reasonable selection of premium burgers plus copious options to build your own. 1/4. 1/3 and 1/2 lb options from $9-12 each. $3-4 for fries a la carte. A few salads on the menu but who looks at those. Burgers, chicken tenders and grilled cheese on the kids menu.
Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time but not food truck speed. The burgers were all overcooked but the meat was very high quality and we did not send them back. A few orders had incorrect toppings or the wrong type of fries served. The food was good but not great. The specialty burgers lacked any standout flavor. The thin cut fries were good when hot but that only lasted a few minutes.
I wanted to like Bone's but if I am going to spend $20+ on a burger, fries and soft drink with tip, the food and service need to blow me away and...
Read moreDELICIOUS!! Super friendly, very comfortable, gluten free SAFE!! Local and housemadeingredients! Everything is fresh and just downright tasty! I would actually consider going out of my way to come to this place again. My family went to chicago for vacation, on our way back to Knoxville, TN we got a hotel near Bones' Burgers. We did a google search and mom picked Bones' burgers because they have a gluten free bun and she has a gluten allergy. It was a cold evening so, when we got there, Bones let us know that there were a couple of parties ahead of us who were waiting in their car. They were packed but, everyone was so nice, we didn't mind to wait. We waited maybe 20 minutes to sit which we didn't think was too long but, everyone was so very nice and apologetic about the wait. We order some regular burgers and split a large order of fries. The burgers were cooked just how we ordered them. Perfection. Mom was happy with her gluten free bun and the wheat bun was also really tasty. The fries were tossed in parmesan. We had a very comfortable dining experience and we had never gone through Cincinnati going to or from Chicago before. We go to Chicago twice a year so, I'm thinking next time we go we might actually choose to go through Cincinnati just for a stop at Bones'...
