Let's start with the food - it is amazing. Some of the best Tex - Mex you can find in Montgomery. Never had a problem with anything I've ever ordered there. Why the 1 star? Service I went in recently by myself for lunch and sat at the bar. I'll usually do that when I eat lunch by myself No need to take up room at a table if unnecessary I get that bartenders also take care of to go orders, and I have no problem with that. However when you notice that a customer has entered your restaurant sat at your bar, and has a menu in front of him, maybe acknowledge the customer's presence by actually speaking to the patron. Also, being that this restaurant is in downtown Montgomery, there are many professionals who come out for lunch and are on a tight schedule. Maybe get the order in as quickly as possible since that person is likely on an hour break and has a short amount of time to actually eat lunch. And when you notice that the customer needs a drink refill, don't just acknowledge that refill, actually refill the drink. Pretty basic stuff. And lastly, knowing that the patron is likely on a tight schedule maybe ask if so and make sure that you get the check to the patron so that person can pay for lunch and get back to the office in a timely manner. I will not return to this restaurant as I feel like I was ignored by the staff and taken for granted as a patron.
UPDATE Thank you to the Cucos management for reaching out to me on 9/12/2018. I wish I could tell you the name of my server, but I was never given her name, nor the name of anyone else with whom...

Went in tonight and it was bad from jump. Service was poor. Ordered queso for appetizer and beef fajitas for entree.
Long/short-queso was luke warm. Rice, beans and fajita toppings came out about 5 minutes before fajitas. The outside of the tortilla lid was soaking wet. I brought it to the manager’s attention. She was nice, apologized, and said, they probably got lazy in the kitchen and didn’t dry it. They got me new tortillas.
Then, fajita plate came out soaking wet. Not only didn’t they not correct the mistake I’d just brought to their attention, what it said to me was someone in the kitchen is washing dishes as they go. No way dishes can be sterilized and dried in machine and they are this wet. It wasn’t damp, it was as though someone lifted it from a sink of water, rinsed it, and plated. Very wet! And it was nearly two hours before closing.
I again brought it to the lady’s attention and after spending 5 minutes trying to convince me to come to the kitchen to see their process for myself, she said, “I’m not sure why the wood was wet (the plating dish for the fajitas) because we don’t even wash those. Maybe it had some food on it that they had to get off.” I laughed and left. To add insult to injury, she didn’t comp my meal. I paid $20+ and didn’t eat a...
Read moreMarch 2020 I'm so glad they have a restaurant Downtown cause its closer than Pike Rd since they no longer have one on Eastern Blvd. I've been a customer of Cucos since they opened in Montgomery. The manager on Dexter Ave has been with Cucos for at least 20yrs & that speaks well of company especially a restaurant where turn over usually is often. The food is reasonably priced, you definitely get plenty & it taste yummy! I tend to rotate getting the same things like beef chimquitos & black beans(lunch size for dinner +$1⁰⁰) Chimichanga beef, Combo Nachos & cheese dip. I love the brown gravy served with chimichangas & chimquitos! Not sure what its called but it unlike any thing at all the other Mexican restaurants in town. Their chips are thin & crispy served with their homemade thick & chunky salsa which isn't real hot. So glad its not really hot cause u can always make it hotter but u can't make it less hot. I want to enjoy the salsa & not feel like my mouth is on fire & sweat running down my face. I've always had good service & food is served quickly. If you've never tried Cucos I think you'll enjoy it & I recommend it to anyone who wants a...
