What a shame. I was so excited to try this vegan food. It is a Black-owned, small business, so I was excited to put my money back in the community instead of going to a corporation. However, my experience was terrible, and I have to share in hopes that the owner and staff will do better.
First, we came in and were instructed to order at the kiosk. That was fine. I paid about $40.00 for two entrees and drinks. It is a little pricey, but I was happy to pay it since the food looked delicious and it is locally owned.
We sat down and the cashier approached us. He asked if our orders went through. I informed him that we ordered two Big Malks, one with the plant-based fries, one with sweet potatoes. I also informed him we ordered two iced teas. He hurriedly ran back to the desk. He then informed us he had the order.
We waited 30 minutes and I checked in with him to see if our order was still coming. He claimed he could see it. He said "these boxes are half the order."
At the 40 minute mark, I approached him again. I saw people who had recently entered the store receive their orders and the boxes he claimed were ours were no longer visible. He claimed that they were just backed up. He then gave an excuse that made no sense: "someone ordered and never arrived to pick up their food so that slowed down the kitchen." Huh?
So I waited another 10 minutes. Now, we've been sitting in the restaurant for 50 minutes. Everyone around me is eating or has finished eating. We are the only people who are not eating. People are walking in and ordering and then receiving their orders 10 minutes later. Obviously, something isn't right.
10 more minutes pass and I decide this just doesn't make any sense. I'm getting a refund and I'm going elsewhere. I ask him to refund the order, then, what happens next is total disorder.
First, the cashier begins running around looking for someone who can help. A man comes out from the back. He claims that the food "was dropped" and everyone here is "new". In fact, he claims it is everyone's first day on the job -- who in their right mind would leave an entire crew of new employees alone to work a rush without a competent manager. The owner should have been there, point blank.
I ask again for a refund. He says he will call the owner. He hands me the phone and the owner tells me I must write my personal information on a piece of paper and have him send that information to her so she can process a refund from home. Now, I don't understand why the information in the system -- my credit card info, my name, my phone number-- isn't enough. I tell her okay, but feel uncomfortable about doing so.
Meanwhile, he never asks me to do that. I tell him at least 10 more times that he needs to take down my information so that I can get a refund. He keeps prioritizing new customers and making me sit and wait for him.
I approach him one more time -- I have been in the store for 1 hour and 20 minutes. He claims the owner is on her way to process my refund. Okay, fine.
I wait another half hour -- so 1 hour and 50 minutes now -- and she hasn't shown up. I ask for an update. He says she is coming. I wait 20 more minutes -- 2 hours and 10 minutes now. Nothing.
He finally just hands me cash from the register and explains that he is really sorry but he doesn't know what he is doing. I feel terrible for that staff -- they shouldn't be left to the sharks like that. The owner should be there to train and coach them until they are ready to be alone.
I sat for over 2 hours without eating. I was dizzy and I thought I would faint several times due to the fact that I hadn't eaten. They never once offered me my tea, nor did they offer me anything to eat while I waited. They offered me no compensation -- no "if you come in next time we'll make it better; no "here's a free meal on us"; nothing. It felt not only disrespectful that I had to wait 2 hours to be given my money back, but that I wasted so much time and energy trying to just get a clear answer from them about what was going on. This...

Read more“Plant Bae” is a 100% Vegan Restaurant located at 175 Lee Street in Montgomery Alabama. First off the location is great because it is very convenient being near the Rosa Parks Museum, Hank Williams Museum, State Capital Building, Downtown River Park, and many other attractions! Parking outside of Plant Bae is metered, abundant, and easy to access. The first thing I noticed walking up to the restaurant was great outdoor seating options and many smiles from all the various people who were dining. The vibe at Plant Bae was immediately welcoming. Once inside you notice more variety of seating options, a cooler with to go items including various house made Sea Moss Gel bottles, and a merchandise rack with cute Tshirts. What I loved about ordering is that Plant Bae has a digital menu that allows you to input your own order. The screen makes it fun and easy to order exactly what you want and exactly the way you want it. You can also place your order with one of the friendly staff members behind the counter. While you wait for your meals (which come out very fast) you’re in luck because Plant Bae offers free Wi-Fi for guests and clearly advertises the password. We ordered the brand new “Soul Roll”, a sweet potato based smoothie, the house made burger with a side of cauliflower wings, and the gluten free Charlie Bae rice bowl. All of the food was SUPERB but I really want to highlight the Soul Roll because I am personally a former cheese lover and this Soul Roll was CHEESEY CHEESEY CHEESEY! The blend of vegan beef crumbles, various cheeses, collard greens, and Mac-N-Cheese in an Egg Roll style wrapper was very enjoyable for me. The prices are very fair for all of the menu offerings and I think non vegans would absolutely love this restaurant too. If you’re having an upcoming event PlantBae can even offering catering for your event! I love this restaurant and I am very happy it exists. Highly...
