I try to eat here every time I come to Montgomery. Only open 3 hours for lunch. Food is excellent. Real cornbread dressing not out of a jiffy box. Real cornbread . Real sweet potatoes ,excellent butter beans. I think the collards were frozen but still good. It’s a true soul food place. And honestly a real dump outside. Inside not so bad. Not the friendliest folks when it comes to customer relations but I’m rating the food. Service was ok but they don’t have enough people waiting tables. I notice the lot and building are for sale and it’s actually a prime property location . I hope they make enough money on the sale to move to another location. Maybe take a Dale Carnegie course on how to win friends and influence people. They would get 10 times more business.

I was visiting from out of town and was recommended Davis Cafe for Lunch (not open for Dinner). I got a Meat and Two. Turkey and Dressing (only available certain days?), butter beans and candied yams. The Turkey and cornbeard stuffing was amazing, butter beans were great and yams were cooked to perfection and like dessert they were so sweet and delicious. The cornbeard muffins they served with the meal were a perfect compliment. Services was fast and friendly and prices were fair. When I'm in town again, I'm definitely coming back!!

First time in Montgomery in some time and wanted to try a new spot for lunch. Found Davis cafe. Do not be dismayed by the surrounding. The place is surrounded by vacant lots and actually looks like a closed business. Open the door and you are treated to a great menu with some fantastic food, all with great service. I selected the liver and onions which was perfect. The price is right but be prepared as each day there are specific entrée options. Plenty of street parking.

If you ever find yourself in Montgomery, AL you have to pay Davis Café a visit. This place is an institution that has been woven into the fabric of the city's history. During the Montgomery bus boycott, Meetings were held here and it was one of the locations for the volunteer cab services organised at the time.

The place looks more or less like it did in the 1950's, down to the Green booths, and floral wallpaper. Open for breakfast and lunch only, if you go there after 2, the place looks like it's been shut down for years. This place is not fancy, but it's a great place to get a meat and three, just like how your grandma makes it. The lunch menu is usually 1-3 meat options and then a number of sides, some might run out depending on when you go. They also have a number of cakes and desserts, like banana pudding, and red velvet cake.

The clientele here is very varied, from construction workers, to lawyers from nearby offices, and tourists. Everyone in Montgomery knows this place, and it shows. Portions are large and affordable. this is not a place to ask for customised orders based on your dietary needs. It is what it is and I hope it stays that way. Just good, home cooked food made with love and lots of...

The 2025 Williams Family Reunion was held in Atlanta, GA, earlier this month of August. One of our ansestors history is told at the The National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, AL. So 50 family members wanted to take the 2 hour trip from Atlanta to see his story. Since time was going to be an issuie of getting back to Atlanta, GA. I recherched and found the Davis Cafe and spoke to Shelia and asked if they had seating together for our party and could we prepay our individual orders and have the food ready once we arived in Montgomery. The repretation and reviews that prompted me to choice this outstanding landmark goes without question. So, if you are ever in the capitol city of Montgomery, give you and your party a treat and some amazing food when you visit Davis Cafe. I wish they were in Atlanta, like the old saying goes "The food is so good it wants you to go and slap your Mama" - A great time for sure, thaks for the service. -...

First I would just like to start off by saying that everyone was super sweet and welcoming and nice. But unfortunately the food was just way too greasy for me. I ordered the western omelette with bacon. I didn't realize that it came with grits and toast. The grits and omelet were served on the same plate and all of the butter from the Grits ran under the Omelette it was just super super greasy. The flavor would have been good if it hadn't been for all the grease now the bacon had a awful taste to it I don't know if it was the way it was smoked or what but I didn't like it. However the toast was wonderful. I did taste the grits even though I'm not a fan of grits but they were very Bland I didn't like them. But like I said everyone was super welcoming and nice I bet some of the other food is wonderful. But as of today on my first visit I can only give it three stars because of the wonderful friendliness and...
