I am a server at GC and I enjoy working in the fast pace environment. It involves alot of multitasking and making sure the bars are stocked with plates, silverware, and bowls in order to facilitate a smooth, orderly process of making your plates at the bar without the chaos and wait for utensils and plates. It can get get extremely crowded during certain hours on certain days, but we try to accommodate our patrons the best we can. Financially, it is one of the best, highest income restaurants I've worked at, and a lot more stressful and smooth running than previous jobs I've had. We have alot of new servers, but many of our servers are return servers, and vets, and already popular with the growing crowd of new customers as well as the loyal patrons that returned when the doors opened. Many are weekly or daily regulars and feel right at home in the laid back casual atmosphere. Read moreThis was the most horrible experience my husband and I ever had. The cashier never made eye contact, was unwilling to answer questions, nor acknowledged us in any way. My husband ate the buffet and said the food was good. He said he asked an employee at the salad bar if they had Caesar dressing. The man just looked at him, rolled his eyes, bit his lip and shook his head no and walked away. Our waitress was attentive. We asked if there was an ATM in the restaurant, because we had no cash for a tip. She said that they would give us cash back on our debit card at the cashier. I waited until my husband finished his meal and got a to-go box to get myself something. As we waited at the cashier to pay and get the cash back a man who worked there walked up behind my husband and yelled, "MOVE, MOVE, MOVE". (My husband later told me it was the same man from the salad bar.) He could have easily gone around as we were not in the way. I turned and raised my voice to match his and said, "Excuse me, Go around, RUDE." A little red headed girl who appeared to be a manager came up and began screaming. "He is autistic and I don't appreciate you talking to people who are disabled like that." There was no way to tell that the man was autistic and if she had just quietly made it known, I would have apologized immediately. She then proceeded to tell me that they didn't have to serve me and didn't want my money and reached for the to-go box I had prepared. I lost my cool and threw the box. I just hate that we were unable to leave a tip for the waitress, because she seemed to be the only person working there that was doing a good job. We are not from Montgomery and had never been to that restaurant there was no way for us to know that the man had a disability. I am in no way upset with the man. His "manager" on the other hand was totally out of line. I can see why the other employees have no idea how to treat...
Read moreThe food was not worth the $28.00 we paid. The food did not look appealing because half of the trays we're half empty or empty and just sitting on the line. The trays were not being rotated out like they should have been. For instance, the Mac and cheese was out. Asked if they had any more and they said, yes. It took almost 20 minutes before anymore got on the line. That's entirely too long to wait on an item that shouldn't run out from the start. That's because nobody was paying attention to the line and quite apparently did not care about what it looked like. Most of the food was only luke warm or cold. The salad bar looked totally disgusting. Very little lettuce in the bowls and some of the add on items had not been replenished. The person cooking the steaks took entirely too long to cook something as simple as a steak. It doesn't take 30 minutes to cook a steak. I don't know if he knows it or not, but any meat that is cooked on any grill must ALWAYS stay moist. That comes from mopping the meat with a liquid as it is cooking. In turn the meat was tough. He also should work on his attitude. People pay their hard earned money to come eat around pleasant acting servers and not people who are mad because they have to cook a steak for a person who wants it a certain way. Last, but probably not least!! The servers have TOO MANY personal conversations across the restaurant while customers are trying to eat. If they're going to talk to each other, it shouldn't be to the point of disturbing the customers. Complaining about what is going on in the work place, for instance, is non of my concern. This place has really gone down. Nothing like it used to be. I used to really enjoy bringing my family and friends here to enjoy a good meal and conversations. I was extremely disappointed and disgusted in how things have changed. This place needs a major overhaul. I really don't think I'll be returning...
