Read moreIt was a good southern cooked meal for a cafeteria style restaurant. This location is at The Legacy Museum. It really does enhance the whole experience. I totally recommend dining here after you've been through the museum exhibits and prior to heading out on the shuttle to the memorial site. It's a great way to recharge in between visits.
I originally wanted fried catfish, but they didn't have it available that day. The servers behind the hot plates were very helpful in identifying what was there. The person in front of me asked if the dish in front of us was burger steak. It was an easy decision after that. That's exactly what I wanted. The nice gentleman behind the counter came over to make sure that burger steak was served properly with all the onions and brown gravy. It ended up being the highlight of my meal. I also selected mac & cheese and sweet potato casserole for my 2 sides (1 meat & 2 veggie plate). The cornbread was recommended over the roll. It was all good, with the exception of the sweet potato. Not that there was anything bad with it. I just don't care for molasses, and this particular recipe was heavy on molasses. If you're a fan of sticky & sweet molasses, then this casserole is for you.
Other than that, it was a quick & comforting meal. We were so hungry after spending 3 hours going through The Legacy Museum. This meal hit the spot for us. The restaurant was clean, open, and bright. The booth seating was comfortable. Was it the best southern meal I've ever had? Not really, but it was still pretty good. I'd go back again. Hopefully they will still have that burger steak on the menu. It really was juicy...
Read moreI was excited to visit this restaurant based on the reviews I read. When I arrived for Saturday lunch It was clear that they were understaffed. The line went back to the door. I asked the counter lady if they have fried fish today and she rudely replied "No, we have baked tilapia". There were only three protein chooses, tilapia, baked or fried chicken. I chose fried chicken, Mac and cheese and steamed broccoli. The ice machine was broken so I couldn't enjoy iced tea .Please note that the cashier was very nice and professional, but he was the only cashier serving a packed house . It took 10 minutes to pay. No food trays so I had to juggle my food, drink , napkins etc. The food: the smallest thigh and leg I have ever been served in a restaurant, mac and cheese was good broccoli was overcooked and under seasoned. And they were not offering bread with the meal ! You only got bread if you asked for it !! Come on Pannie-George you can do better... After reading the owner's response to my honest review I understand why customer service is non existent. She makes excuses and lies. Her staff told me that the ice machine was broken and there were out of order signs on the machines. Her staff told me that you have to ask for bread. If you are open for 2 hours or 8 hours trays should be available for your customer's...
