Really want to come back here.... never heard of it and was passing by from Camarillo going south. Stopped for breakfast and the food was good. I had corned beef hash and hoped for fantastic but it was just okay they did provide 2 Perfectly poached eggs!!! ... One person had chocolate pancakes and they said Best ever and another person had the hamburger omelet and said it was great... it looked amazing. The service was beyond top notch.. those guys didn't miss a beat and friendly as could be. Atmosphere.... hmm, this is why I have to go back. It's called a Cafe and looks and feels like a Cafe. We noticed some really fantastic looking tomahawk steaks waiting to be prepared, I was ready for dinner..... but the atmosphere does not seem inviting for dinner .... I will return for sure though as the wonderful service and the look of those steaks are irresistible!!!
Oh no.... no no no.... went back for that dinner we were anticipating... the tomahawk steaks weren't being served and we were told they were waiting for some future date..... ooookay.
So I opted for the moderately priced ribeye, as did the other two of our group. Let me cut to the chase... this was absolutely The Most Disappointing JOKE of a meal I've ever had and in Ventura County. My way over cooked solid Grey throughout 1/4" thick steak was about as appealing as shoe leather. Way way under cut for the supposed 12oz size... un seasoned and so thin I have no idea how it was classified a ribeye.... everyone was served the same. The potatoes were runny... not really mashed and the vegetables were canned corn.
Again... Great breakfast.... avoid for dinner and as far as I'm concerned they'll never see me or any of my friends there again.... they owe us an apology for luring us in under the guize of serving nice tomahawk steaks!
They should change their name to...
Read moreWhat an amazing family owned business! Not only was the food perfect for a picky eater like myself but the staff was so kind and welcoming. Today I ordered a very basic breakfast that is easy to mess up. I ordered eggs scrambled well with hash browns and pancakes with a side of fruit. I'm very picky when it come to eggs... the eggs were perfect! Not stiff or watery, just perfect fluffy and delicious I did not have to season! The hash browns were crunchy on the outside without being burnt and moist and buttery in the middle. The pancakes!!!! Bah were delicious, first I tried them without syrup or butter and the batter was so fulfilling. Being firm on the outside and soft in the middle these absolutely hit the spot. After I added butter and syrup..... oh geez everything just got better. The fruit tasted fresh. The coffee was fresh Not burnt even without sugar. They offer French vanilla and half and half if you need it. The ice tea hit the spot! I'm definitely a tea drinker and this tea is top two for me. Now to the service... my main server was Jazz. Jazz was more than kind and accommodating. They were absolutely willing to tell me about the restaurants history and how they love working for this family. The other servers were super kind as well. I didn't go without a drink the entire time. Everyone smiled and looked very clean! Then entire place is very clean. They offer alot of mimosa combinations for those who want a breakfast with friends . All in all this place is definitely a place I recommend to families, friends or single riders lol. They will make you feel welcomed and will accommodate and become creative to make sure your visit is the best. Oh and if you have allergies... they have a second kitchen to prepare the...
Read moreWent for a Mother's Day brunch yesterday and expected the place to busy and it was. There was so much noise and distraction in the place you couldn't enjoy the company of those with whom you went. I could hardly hear the server (she spoke in almost a whisper) and when my order came it was NOT what I ordered even though I repeated it to her and she repeated it back. Additionally, others in our party did not get what they ordered. The pancakes I did get were awful...so tough and chewy I couldn't even cut them with a knife much less my fork..tasted more like i was eating a loaf of bread than a light fluffy pancake, or more realistically like trying to eat a wet sponge! My Pearl Milling ("Aunt Jemima") pancakes are far and above better than what I was served. We took most of these "pancakes" home hoping that adding some syrup or peanut or something would help them. After my wife tried to eat them and couldn't stomach the awful texture, lack of flavor and toughness, we threw them away. The prices are well out of bounds for the quality of the food they serve... and I was always suspicious of what the offering was like having reviewed the pricing for the type of food described online. I went because I was invited to go otherwise I would not have ever gone to this restaurant. My impression price-wise was they are pretending to be a high quality fine food restaurant, extensively overcharging for mediocre food. Having now been there, I can say I was correct--they were pretending!. I do not recommend you go "Serendipity"...you can get better...
