California Bun — Restaurant in Moorpark

No clue how this place has so many positive reviews. I’ve gone maybe three times and every experience is awful and has me scratching my head.

I placed an order pickup yesterday that took over twenty minutes with zero customers in the store. ZERO. One employee was practically sleeping in the booth, the other looked stoned. No friendly greeting, just feeling awkward even though I was the customer. I arrived after the promised time to an empty store… and we waited an additional 10+ minutes. The employees hadn’t even started it when we arrived… they were just doing literally nothing.

I spent over thirty dollars on three drinks and two buns. Two of the drinks look nothing like the picture and tasted like coffee with milk.

I’m so disappointed every single time. Take a look at my pic and tell me if that looks anything like the drink should. That’s supposed to be the Pacific Rose!? I was so sad because I had a long drive ahead of me and didn’t get the delicious beverage but a coffee and milk I could have made at home! A flavorless cup of cold coffee milk with one pump of maybe raspberry(?) sauce that was sitting at the bottom of the cup.

I even tipped two dollars I wish I could take back!

How there are so many positive review I will never understand! This place is always dead and looks like it’s on its way out. The absolute worst service every single time… and this place...

I was hesitant to review, because I don't want this place to get overcrowded; I love going here! It's about $5 - $6 per big bun, and under a dollar to a couple of dollars for the smaller appetizer-type buns. Can also buy in bulk! Would be an amazing choice for food if you're having a party.

There's not a variety of food options, because they serve a particular type of food, the buns. But they have a lot of different types of buns, plus some really great sides (love the waffle fries, wife likes the tots). They make them all fresh and ready to order. They also have some great drink options and some of the best fresh-squeezed orange juice I've ever had.

The employees are just wonderful and they offer a discount to veterans! There's tons of parking and seating available. Perfect place to grab a meal and chat...

Unique concept of Bun! My husband and I loved owners inspiration how they put idea together to open this unique bun restaurant.

We had three different buns to try half of each. Definitely taste of fresh dough made at shop. Baked well! Nice combination of filling. It was easy breakfast.

Not breakfast sandwiches all inside bun! Easy to grab and eat as warm.

Coffee : Local roasting coffee. I like personally like light dripped coffee so it was my type of coffee brewing.

Nice owner couple. Big open space inside.

Impressed ❤️ To go bag was used thick paper to hold good compared to normal thin paper. It’s maybe just paper quality but I like how to choose for difference to make it better...
