Pizza Hut — Restaurant in Morehead

I've loved Pizza Hut for over 30 years and the one located in Morehead, KY generally does a good job. I order pizza maybe once a week and this is my most frequent go-to. Most of the time they get the order correct and the food tastes great. Considering prices in the area, their specials make them very competitive considering the quantity of food you get.

I was torn on my rating because I get good service more often than not, however that "not" part does happen about every other order or so. The most common mistake is ordering a side of chicken with a particular style sauce and then getting something completely different. How the heck do you mix up BBQ with smokin hot buffalo? I can expect this stupid mixup almost like clockwork. Luckily, the pizza order itself hovers around 95% accurate overall.

What's a pizza without generous cheese? Years ago, the actual amount of cheese on the pizza matched the picture you see when ordering. These days, I always see some bald spots on my order. It's bad enough you have to worry about going bald yourself - why am I getting shorted on cheese? And of course, for $2 extra, they'll add some of the missing cheese. I've gotten the extra cheese a couple times and I basically wasted $2 each time.

Nothing specific against this particular Pizza Hut - just against Pizza Hut in general is this bait and switch they did a little while back on the size of their crust. Used to be that a pan pizza was really thick, hand tossed was about like anyone else's normal crust and then thin was little stuff just above crackers. Now that they've done away with pan style crust, what you get is pan is what hand tossed was, hand tossed is now what thin was and thin is the cracker stuff. And as if that isn't enough of a kick, they want to charge you a $1 extra for the "pan" style. That's just dishonest and a ripoff. Hand tossed now is so thin that you don't get much crust at all.

Luckily I like their pizza. I realize people get in a hurry, new hires come along and such. Hopefully at some point they realize those extra 10 seconds it takes to verify an order can mean the difference in a happy customer.

A note about the buffet... Just don't. They know nothing about keeping it stocked and you can literally sit there with it empty and they'll tell you they want to stop bringing things out because they could be within 30m of when the buffer is over. Doesn't even matter if 8 or so people are still there. And then the price. Wow. $13 for a buffet and drink. I love pizza hut! The food is almost always excellent but I do feel in the past few months their staff shows a lack of training. I wanted a personal pan pizza and usually place an order online but I called it in and the lady told me they did not have personal pans. I told her yes they do I order them all the time...also ordered cheese sticks and she said they have cheesy bread...I told her I never heard it called that but ok. I arrived to pick my order up and had to pull my previous orders up on my phone to prove they do in fact have personal pans..( Book it program 🤔) finally a cook came up and finished the transaction. I am not sure if she just wasn't trained or also a chance the lady was a bit... high. Ordered 2 Pizza's and 1 cookie for pickup. Pizza 1 Cheesy Bites Meat lover's w/ pine apple (1/2) and extra cheese. Pizza 2 Cheesy Bites Meat Lover's w/ pine apple, jalapeno's, tomato chunks, and extra cheese. 1st attempt to order was called into Pizza Hut call in number and order per store not received. Person picking up order handed cell phone to person at register. I again gave the order. What I got when pizza's were brought here was cheesy bites pizza's that are no more than a half inch thick. Pizza had toppings but of each was very sparse to the point that on Pizza 2 I can't tell any meat's were added. This is the 2nd time in recent time this has happened.
