0 stars! Would not recommend this place solely based on the appalling customer service I received prior to our reservation. I had made a lunch reservation for 8/16 at 2:30pm for a party of 9 to celebrate a 70th bday. We had family coming from SF. Reservation was made 5 days prior on OpenTable. At 11:30am DAY OF the reservation, someone called me from the restaurant to tell me that their kitchen closes at 2:30pm. I asked what this meant for my reservation and all I kept being told was their kitchen closes at 2:30pm. I finally asked if this meant we couldn’t get food and finally I was told yes. If we came in at 2:30pm, we couldn’t eat. I asked the lady how I was able to make a reservation at that time (as well as the fact that there were reservations available up until 3pm) if their kitchen closes at 2:30pm. All she could respond with was “I don’t know”. I explained that this reservation was made 5 days prior and asked why had no one contacted me before to lmk (restaurants usually confirm bookings a day before). “I don’t know”. The lady had no answers for anything nor was offering any solutions. She finally asked if we could come in at 2pm. I explained we specifically booked for 2:30pm because my son was in a soccer tournament until 2:10pm, that was just down the road. And besides, how would that help when earlier she had told me that the kitchen staff leaves at 2:30pm. We would have had to order apps, mains and dessert and received all before 2:30pm? I asked to speak to a manager and was told there wasn’t one. Asked when they would be in “I don’t know”. Asked for the lady to hold so I could discuss with my husband (where were we going to find a last minute reservation for a party of 9), and instead I got disconnected. No one even bothered to call back, and no one picked up when I tried calling back. Clearly they don’t care that it was for a special celebration and where did they expect us to go last minute. No care for the customer whatsoever. And clearly they don’t want or need the business, based on this experience. Totally unacceptable. And whoever called me to inform me about the kitchen closing at 2:30pm needs to learn how to speak with a customer and go on a customer service course. The menu looks great, but shame that myself nor my family will ever try to come here again. My husband hosts a lot of work events here too. That won’t be happening in the...
Read moreOdeum does not ceases to amaze. The menu gets better every time, they just brought back the ribs appetizer and with a special touch. They are not only as good as the ones which they opened the restaurant with, they have improved them. Not to mention the ricotta and the octopus both outstanding. The lamb is always expertly cooked, from the lamb chops to the lamb shank through the moussaka. Simply stated the lamb is like no other. I have to confess I have been unfaithful to Chef's Calvisi's Lamb, but where ever I eat it I realize his Lamb is plain and simple the best Lamb not only in the bay area but quite possibly around the country. Only in very selected places in Greece, Italy, France and Switzerland you find the find such perfection. As good as the lamb is we keep coming back mostly because of the high quality and flavor full menu dishes and of course the Chef's specials which usually entices our appetites. If you are having a meal at Odeum remember to save something for desert. At Odeum they are all made from scratch on the premises, yes including the ice cream/gelatto and they are outstanding. If so inclined their wine selection and wine pairings for their menu is outstanding highly recommend it is you are a wine lover.
We cam back !
For my wife's birthday, we decided to celebrate Odeum. The ricotta appetizer was superb as usual, along with even better pita bread, which continues to improve in flavor, appearance and texture, usually pretty good, on Saturday night the pita was as close as you can get to perfection. Saturday's night special for the salad was a Brussels sprouts salad. Both my wife or Son claim not to like Brussels sprouts, despite as the salad came along both decided to have a little taste just by the looks of it, of course after that there was no going back they simply could not resist themselves to have as much of it as I was willing to share with them. My son loves the Giro Pizza which he savored until the last bite. My wife asked for the Tuscan steak and was astonished by the perfect blend of flavors, the olive oil, rosemary, garlic, and and of course the green salsa which she says made her meal one to remember. My lamb chops were delightful, I enjoyed every last bite of it along with the superb spinach a la creme and...

Yes, probably the busiest day for any decent restaurant, I get it. My girlfriend is a waitress and I grew up in a family restaurant.
Awful- Probably the worst dining experience and most expensive I've ever had. Totally ruined our special night. My gf spent 2 hours getting ready for this and we dressed up. Reservations for 9pm, we get there on time and waited for a half hour. Last to be seated even though many other people came in after us. Table was squeezed in and staff constantly zooming past us and loud! We moved to the outside where it was not as chaotic. At 9:40 we are presented with a "tasting menu". I've been to a Michelin star restaurant tasting menu and this was not one. This was a LAZY "wedding" menu designed to feed hundreds with no fuss. No option to order from the regular menu. Open table app never said this and we thought, "too late to DoorDash at home, everything is closed." $125 per person, no wine included plus a mandatory 20% tip/service fee. Had a couple drinks for a Total of $395!
But that wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that the food was basic; mediocre and burned our steaks.
Course 1 - A meatball in marinara sauce, tepid and ridiculous. Course 2 was a salad (nothing remarkable) or a pasta in meat sauce. Plain. Course 3 - At almost 10:45 we get our "filet Mignon". I asked for medium, it was well done with a charcoal crust. My gf's filet was a charcoal briquette. Yes, she asked for well done, not burnt. Also, they were under-sized- no way they were 8oz, maybe 4! At 11:00 pm I sent back the steaks and asked to remake and take them home.
Night ruined, wallet drained.
I asked for the GM and told him what happened, did nothing. I vow to tell everyone about this money-grab. Chef Calisi should be ashamed. Plating bad, course 1 &2 mediocre, service slow. filet Mignon burned - see pic. Created a "wedding" menu and have the audacity to call it a tasting menu and charge people $400.
For an extra $45 per person, they had a wine flight for each course. I didn't get that because I wasn't sure what's the best wine to pair with...
