To start things off, the employees were very nice both on the phone and when I came in to pick up my order. They were very understanding and helped me with an issue I was having with my card possibly being charged twice.
As for the food, the menu is absolutely massive with an overwhelming amount of tasty-sounding things to choose from; we settled on pizza and wings. The pizza sauce was nicely sweetened and when combined in synergy with the hot honey, it created a delightful savory/sweet combo. It was even more improved by the topping of grilled peppers and onions, forming an extra layer of caramelized flavor. I've never seen that topping offered before and I'm glad I went with it. I ate the entire thing in one sitting, too.
As for the wings, I highly recommend the raspberry-peach sauce. It's a unique flavor combination and almost like a jelly in texture. The other flavor I got was mango habanero and you can't go wrong with that one either. Just for fun, I also got a side of their hottest sauce, aptly named "Hurt Me". I try to make it a thing of sampling places hottest sauces. Now listen, I love my spice. I'm not one of those people who claims to like spice and then tears up when eating jalapeños. Habanero does pretty much nothing to me and ghost pepper is where things start to get spicy. I've done the "One Chip" challenge. I can handle my spice. That said, I met my match here. I took one tiny spoonful and my stomach immediately started doing somersaults and cramping. Massive props to whoever whipped this stuff up, as it's very rare a place actually knows how to make things spicy.
Speaking of wings, both me and my girlfriend got a bonus one! Overall, the food was amazing and I wanna try so much more. The only downside was that it was quite expensive. A 14-inch pizza is $14 which isn't good, but not awful. However, each of the toppings adds $2.50. I ended up paying over $91 for two pizzas and 22 wings (ordered 20). I'd probably give this place 4.5 stars for that, but that's not an option so I'll round up since I'm feeling nice and the food was phenomenal.
Update:
Decided to come back but dine-in this time. The turkey pesto panini was pretty good. The Giovanni was juicy but was lacking flavor. However, I added a bit of BBQ sauce and it fixed it right up. The pulled pork nachos were delicious, especially the pork itself; it was tender and flavorful. Fries are perfectly crispy as well.
Update #2:
Once again delicious. I can now recommend the honey garlic, Nashville hot, and Cajun wings as well. The sweet potato fries with cinnamon sugar rock and so do the onion petals. Still so much more for me to...
Read moreA former co-worker suggested this restaurant for a family meal. There are many options in Morgantown to choose from, and we thought we would go check out if this place really is as great as we have been told. The menu looked amazing, and we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of sandwiches on the board, and other tavern-style food options. Unfortunately, we found the meal to be lacking in areas, and overly done in others.
For example, my daughter ordered the chicken wrap and although it was very well portioned and the ingredients were fresh, the chicken lacked seasoning and there was no flavor to the cheese at all. She ordered a side of ranch to help give it some flavor.
My husband ordered the Varsity Beef sandwich. He was looking forward to it until it came literally loaded with enough mayo and bbq sauce that the sandwich bun was drenched and soggy. The sandwich literally deteriorated and fell apart in his hands while trying to eat it. He said it was ridiculously done over with salt and sauce. He would recommend giving it a hard pass.
I ordered the Cubano, and I will admit it was a great sandwich! Nothing bad to say; all positives on this meal! 10/10.
My son ordered the Calzone and added ham. The ham had no flavor, which was strange, as ham can usually be salty. This ham was flavorless, and did nothing for adding flavor to the bland Calzone. It lacked the normal italian seasoning flavors that we are used to for this type of meal. Instead of making it so big (it was huge), more effort could be given to making it taste better.
Since all sandwiches are served with chips, we opted to add a large basket of french fries to our table ($9.00). We felt this was the better price, as it would be an additional $3.50 each to substitute the fries for our chips w/the sandwiches we ordered. We were very disappointed, as the fries were so overly salted, even my teenagers said they felt their blood pressure rise by taking just one bite! We would have asked for them to be replaced, but we did not see our server again until the end of the meal. It wasn't her fault, as it appeared that only 2 servers were waiting on tables in a busy restaurant. The only reason I gave 3 stars for service, is strictly because there was too many tables for the amount of staff working to handle. They were very good and we appreciated their efforts.
All in all, this place has a great reputation. We are going to just believe that we visited on a night that was just not up to the normal quality. However, we will not be making another trip to see if it improves, as our bill came to over $100...
Read moreHas a great menu on paper, that I wish would have translated into my actual experience.
Ordered an Umami burger, mozzarella sticks, and wings. Service took forever even though we were there on a lazy Sunday evening without that many people. My burger was badly burnt to the point of being inedible. I was expecting this unique Asian twist full of flavor, and got a mouth full of charcoal instead. After the long wait time, that was disappointing to say the least. Girlfriend said wings were mediocre and overpriced. Mozz sticks were okay, but not 4-5 star restaurant quality. They're frozen, and basically what you would get in a gas station or a bowling alley. This place even upcharges you to get fries with a burger (instead of chips), and the fries that you get are really thin, shoestring fries with too much salt, and no seasoning as far as I could tell.
Basically, it's an overpriced sports bar with sub-standard food that caters to drunk people. I gave it two stars, because the waitress was polite and didn't give me attitude when I asked them to take my burger...
