Life change me hide
My name is Christian Matos. I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my experience at WVU Medicine Chestnut Ridge Center after being taken from my workplace by force on Jul 11 to Jul 15, 2023.
Patient Name: Christian Manuel Lorenzo Matos. Date(s) of Service: August 11–15, 2023
I was working at the hospital (3pm–11pm shift), and during my shift, I was approached about speaking to someone regarding my mental health. I agreed to speak with a psychologist, but instead, I was forcibly stripped of my clothes, denied the use of my phone, held overnight without being offered water, food, or rest, and was not permitted to leave.
I was kept awake for over 18 hours, then kept under surveillance, and not allowed to shower until a male staff member observed me — which made me feel deeply violated and humiliated. I was treated like a criminal, not a human being.
I never attempted to harm anyone. I had covered my hands because of a private personal issue, not to cause harm to others or myself. I was cooperative and did not resist, yet was forcibly hospitalized for three days and am now being billed $6,566, which I cannot afford.
I believe this entire incident was a violation of my civil rights, privacy, and dignity, and I am requesting an immediate investigation, a review of the bill, and a full explanation of the legal grounds for this forced admission.
I am asking for:
A copy of all medical records and decisions made by Dr and the emergency staff. Full documentation of why I was held and who authorized it. A formal review of the charges billed to me.
I am deeply traumatized by what happened and am willing to provide more information as needed. I am requesting that this complaint be formally acknowledged and investigated.
They give false email for prevent me to get my compensation. They scam me, they get with it and I...
Read moreMy husband had an operation at Ruby WVU back in April to removed cancer from his body and since has had two UTI’s but the second one this past Monday was the worst an came on quickly. So since it’s Monday afternoon I called his Doctor office there at WVU and left messages with no response so we headed to Ruby Memorial to hopefully see either his doctor or go to the ER. My husband was extremely sick very high fever of 102 which Tylenol helped manage and he was unsteady on his feet. So his doctors office didn’t call back. So unfortunately we went to the ER to wait a total of 6 hours moved around twice. Once for an x-ray which he didn’t need and we refused and once for blood work. What we needed was Tylenol and antibiotics, By the time we got back to be seen my husband fever was still very high and with the infection getting worst he really could not communicate well. So right away they gave him Tylenol and started antibiotics but needed to keep him overnight but sorry no beds. We stayed in the ER until about 7 or 8 in the morning before he got a bed. Ridiculous! Also I asked for Tylenol while in the waiting area but they didn’t want to give it to him and near the end of the wait and he became unable to really communicate as the infection continued to get worse I ask for someone to take him back for treatment we still waited another hour. I would never come here to this ER again. This ER and probably others need to correct this problem as we the patients deserve more and better...
Read moreI arrived at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital on January 16, 2025 and discharged on January 22, 2025. First my back which brought me here. I fell on January 10th, and didn't know I had broken my leg. I went to Jefferson Hospital and they sent me to Ruby Memorial. This is one of the largest hospitals I have seen. Each day I had the chance to order my meals. I met Dr. Klein an orthopedic specialist and his team. The people here made me feel like I was the only patient they had. I was three hours away from home and no family with me. I can't remember everyone's name but I can say they helped me get through one of the most difficult decisions I had to make. The amputation of my left leg which was done the next day. Dr. Klein, the nurses, the Chaplain, rehab and the future student doctors, along with the support of my family and friends helped me to get through it all. Although I'm back in Charles Town WV, I still have the support of Dr Klein and his team. I give J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital 5 stars. The care I received, the support I got and the love I felt from people I didn't know. The best hospital ever!! "Guys I really didn't want to leave". Like I said earlier; I felt I was the only...
