Read the bottom of this review for my update!!! I had originally rated them 5 stars, but now it is a generous 2 stars!!! It's about time a good BBQ restaurant come to town. I was pleasantly surprised at the extensive menu choices. There is something for everyone on the menu...even my husband who is like a 5 yr old and will not eat his veggies! We ordered the Tailgate Dinner which was a perfect amount of food for two people with enough left over for a bedtime snack. The prices are reasonable and fair for what you get and compared to the other large chain BBQ restaurant in town. We first looked at the menu online but found there to actually be more items available in person. An added benefit in my opinion! We will definitely be making this one of our regular places for eating out or getting take out! UPDATE: I am SOOOO disappointed! We ordered take out this past weekend to take to my in laws who aren't getting out much due to the virus. We placed the order Saturday evening with a pick up scheduled for Sunday at 11. When we got there to pick it up, not only was it not ready, out order was LOST. They eventually found it but that didnt replace the time we had to wait or the hassle of reordering. They did give us two free drinks while we waited but still.... After 25 min of an unnecessary wait, we finally made our way to my husband's parents' house which of course we were late.. When we got there and took everything out of the bag, I found our order to be WRONG! We had ordered the family special plus an extra pound of pulled pork and two additional pints of side items (creamed corn and okra). There was supposed to be enough food without the extras to feed 4 people but , even with the extras, there was barely enough which was embarrassing among other things. The buns were not fresh by any means and the okra and cream corn sizes were incorrect. What should have been two pints was only two measly individual sides and I doubt the amount of okra was even that. We received only a small amount of extra pulled pork which was no where close to a pound ( half a pound at best). Compared to the many other times we have ordered food to go from this place I really feel like they reheated left overs from the night before rather than serving us with made to order food as they advertis. The fried okra was soggy!) My husband and I fell in love with this place but this experience has me questioning if I even want to go back. For a place that offers catering, this should have been an easy order for them. I'm just thankful it wasn't intended for a more important occasion than what it was (which should not even be a factor). I usually don't write bad reviews but I couldn't get this experience out of my mind and I sure don't want what happened to us to happen to someone else who IS planning for an event of more signifigance). So in a nutshell, the best thing about this experience was the two free drinks which don't even start to make up for this incident of "dropping...
Read moreThis was our first time at Circle S. We've heard great things about the place and wanted to take some friends that were in town visiting. The atmosphere is great. We ordered the deviled eggs and fried pickles as appetizers. (deviled eggs- 3 out of 5) (fried pickles- 4 out of 5) Our friends ordered the sirloin steak and were very pleased with their meal. I tasted a piece of the steak and it had great flavor. (4 out of 5 on the steak) I ordered the cheeseburger and wasn't impressed. It appeared to be good ground beef but wasn't seasoned at all. (2 out of 5 on the burger) They were out of the ribs so my wife got the brisket. This is where everything went downhill. The brisket was more fat than edible meat. (see pictures) I was blown away that they had the nerve to even plate the brisket. We notified the wait staff that were weren't happy with it and she'd clearly heard the same complaint about the brisket all day. The manager came over and offered to bring her more as she picked through. The next round of brisket wasn't much better and she ended up giving up on it. We asked for a discount or for it to be removed and the manager would not remove it. This didn't sit well with us as we believe the brisket did not come close to anything expected. My wife loved the sweet potato and turnip greens, but the brisket was disgusting. We're not saying we wouldn't give them another try with a steak, but the brisket and the...
Read moreI've really enjoyed my food both times I've visited. The first time I ordered a beefsteak and the second I ordered the haystack burger. Both were incredible as were the sides- especially the macaroni & cheese. They've apparently removed the Cesar salad from their menu.
The only downside is that the older gal that runs the place is quite rude. She told me last Sunday that we couldn't sit outside because they needed an extra staffer. Plus, she thought it was a tad chilly 😅... Had that been the only issue, I would've honestly just ignored it.
However, what I really got under my skin was when she asked if I was the only one being seated. Normally that's a standard question, but she followed by saying that she didn't want to seat only one person on a busy Sunday after church.
I ignored it at the time, but there's just something truly awful about turning away a person for being alone. My guess is that she was more concerned with keeping tables filled than being kind and considerate to their guests. The biggest irony was that after I explained I was waiting for my girlfriend's family to join me, I was seated next to someone who had an entire table to herself. So no, I truly did not appreciate the douple-standard.
Despite my disagreements, the food was lovely and the waiter was very attentive. I'm even told that the little toy tractors are available...
