I grew up in Morristown, but moved away in 2006, so every time we come to visit my family we always go to In/Out Pizza as it has always been the same as I remember growing up. We hadn't got to get up there since late 2019 due to covid and my work schedule, so we were excited to go this past weekend.
On this visit, we found that they had moved out of the original building (Old Pizza Inn) and into a new location, so we thought we'd go assuming the food was still the same.
Positives:
The food was pretty much the same as I remembered with the exception of the cinnamon Stromboli, it wasn't even close. Pizza's were good, dessert pizzas phenomenal. The service was good and our waitress was very friendly. If there was something we wanted that was not out on the bar, they did not hesitate to make it fresh for us and even brought it to our table before taking it to the bar.
Negatives
The ambiance of this new location is horrible. No booths, nothing to divide up the space, no color or decor to make it inviting. Just a big open room with a punch of tables and chairs. Lots of gray/silver. The old location had a much better vibe to it.
The layout of the buffet was awkward and closed in. Luckily it wasn't busy but I imagine that being a cluster on a busy day. There wasn't much food on the buffet, but as mentioned they made us anything we asked for.
The biggest disappointment other then the ambiance of the place was the cinnamon Stromboli which combined with their other dessert pizzas is the main reason I go there. It was definitely not the same. It wasn't as thick, didn't have as much filling and it didn't have the nuts in it like before. Very disappointed!
Then the check came and I was shocked how much the price had went up. I imagine prices went up that much due to inflation combined with paying for a new location in a prime spot, but for me, the experience did not match the price. We ate at a steakhouse for dinner and only paid $20 more for steaks than we paid for pizza.
Sadly, I think moving locations may hurt this place in the long run. Part of the magic of the old location was the ambiance it provided and this new location just feels like another pizza place. I'd probably go back again, but it won't be on every...
Read moreMost the reviews seem to love or hate this place for me it was just ok….Edit: thank you for the owner reply I would definitely be willing to try it again.
The good: the staff greeted us when we walked in the door. They took our order quickly, checked on drinks several times and brought the food pretty quickly. Overall 5 stars on service. The restaurant is also very clean. I ordered a thin crust pizza and they do thin crust right. Great crunch. The pricing is also decent.
The not so great: where this place started to fall apart for me was after tasting the food. The pizza had a great crunch, the pepperoni was good and it was cooked right. But there is pretty much no other flavor at all. I actually thought maybe it was me and asked the other 4 at the table. We all came to the same conclusion. Pizza, cheese fries, sandwiches. All the same ,everything we ordered was basically flavorless or very minor in flavor. Not sure how they accomplished this. (I will add everyone loved the salad bar bar though) The food is certainly not bad. It just lacks anything to make me want it again or differentiate it from anything else, just bland. The soda was also flat.
This place has potential. They are doing many things right. But need to change up ingredients or add some flavoring to otherwise make it worth...
Read moreI don’t recommend eating during their slow times. visiting last week, I apparently arrived after the lunch rush. The buffet selection was bare as we entered. You know, just either a weird combination pizza that no one eats, or a classic cheese. I asked the server if we can get more selection on the bar, she seem’d apprehensive to let the kitchen know of my request. I was reminded they don’t throw pizzas on the bar during down times, that it will be 10-15 minutes in order for something else was put on the bar. As I nibbled on a plain cheese pizza, a classic pepperoni was placed on the bar and was immediately devoured by the other guests dining. Server asked me if I needed more drink when my glass was empty. Felt like I was gonna be charged for a refill by the way the server acted; thankfully I wasn’t charged. Needless to say, when the bar was eventually replenished after 45 minutes, I was full from eating the plain cheese pizza. I took a picture of the bar as I was leaving. The restaurant was very clean, the bathrooms were clean. Just feel like they dropped the ball in keeping the buffet stocked with something besides cheese and hot buffalo chicken pizza. For my first time visiting, I more than likely...
