The bouncer (white bald guy with tattoos) thought my very real Maryland ID was fake. I showed them my credit and debit cards, my old student ID (from MARYLAND), my work ID, even offered to log-in to the irs or mva website and show them my very real birthdate. They didn't understand this concept. They refused to let me in. Here's a tip: Maryland IDs are extremely hard to fake, we have security strips going down the center with a code, among other security features. It is worth no-ones time to fake a MD ID. On top of that, my ID is freshly renewed by a couple months and is a new version. Regardless, I have 0 reason to get a fake, I have a full time job and am not a freshman in college. I have never been rejected before with my card.
They bent the card saying "the laminate is coming off". When me and ten others bent the card, there was zero sign of this. This is on top of the other numerous security features on the card that scream "REAL".
I'm very worried that this was about race. I never think this. But I was the only black person there, and they wouldn't let me in for whatever strange reason. They were adamant. I do not even look younger than 21. All my coworkers know I am 21. I have no reason to bring a fake from my own state. The way the bouncer handled it also did not help. It felt racist, but I really don't want to think that. The worst part is, I HAVE BEEN TO IRON BAR BEFORE. If this had not happened, I literally would have not cared. I would rate the place maybe 3 out of 5. It is generally very loud, and crowded, but it's okay for a bar. But with service like this they should be ashamed of themselves. It's okay for me to get rejected, but be nice about it and have real reasons.
We had a party of about 20 and we all left because of this. This was the first time most were trying Iron Bar, so it did not leave a good impression. If you want a good bar, go to Famished Frog, Sona Thirteen, or anywhere else really. Iron Bar is not worth the time.
If I ever have to come here again I'll make sure to bring my bank statements, passport, birth certificate, and the doctor who was present...
Read moreI have been coming here for over a year and it was my favorite bar. However an incident took place that will lead me to never come here again. I was enjoying my night with friends when a girl, who I have never met, laid her hands on me and tried to take my personal belongings from my hand. I got her hands off of me once and she laid her hands on me a second time. I defended myself by pushing her away, and then walked away and up to a security guard. I told him what happened and he was very sweet and understanding, and called over another guard. I re-explained my situation to this second guard and told him I would point out the girl who did this. A few minutes later, the second guard was back with the girl who did this to me, and she claimed that the item in my hand that she was trying to take, was hers and that I had stole it from her. Without hesitation, the second guard turned to me and told me to return the item. I refused, as the item was mine (as I explained to both guards previously) and the second guard did not believe me. He told me that both me and the girl need to go upstairs/ outside, and I asked that the first guard I went up to come as well since he was the first one I had spoken to after the incident. The second guard refused, and took ONLY ME upstairs despite saying me and the girl needed to come. I got told I am “welcome back” another time, but for the night I was done and needed to leave. I did not see the girl who put her hands on me first leave. Being a brown woman, I am used to being seen as an aggressive person, but for this to occur at Iron Bar was disgusting. I was treated as a thief and talked to like I was a treat to the well being of the establishment. I will never be returning here again as there is no doubt in my mind that I was the sole one kicked out...
Read moreWell seems like I had some of the same experiences other people had with the bouncers. I was there on 11/28/15 sitting at the bar with my boyfriend talking for a good hour only had 2 drinks. Then all of a sudden some young kid around 915ish came uo behind me and said I'm taking your chair. I'm all confused like why is some young kid trying to take my chair. I said no I'm sitting her please move along. Then I see the bartender behind the bar smile at him and as I turn around the guy is giving her a weird smile. Then proceeds to tell me no I'm taking your chair get up. So me being 30 years old figured oh this is some punk kid who is trying to act cool in front of his friends. So I said no your not taking my chair leave me alone or I'll punch u in the throat. (Yes I said that bc the guy was rude and persistent ). Well big Mistake all of a sudden u can see his shirt now under his zip up saying iron bar starts screaming at another bouncer and next thing u know we're getting kicked out. And on my way out I got called every profanity in the book a female should never be called ever. If I knew that "kid" bouncer worked there and he mentioned hey its getting to the packed hours I need to remove your chairs please yes I would of complied but never once did he mention he work there and never once was polite he was just acting like some kid who thought he was cool in front of his friends. Never again will I go back here. We were paying customers who were sitting quite having a drink until someone wanted to have fun at his job. Never in my life have I been talked to the way that...
