"The customer is always wrong" might be their motto. We had such a good experience the first time we tried The Address, we invited our family to join us there for a meal last night, all 12 of us. We got a very rude young waiter. It was all about him. He'd come over the table and VERY ABRUPTLY stop our conversation when he had something to say. Several of us ordered fish. My brother ordered snapper. When asked how he wanted it cooked the choices were "rare, medium rare or medium". He said, "Cooked". The waiter replied, "So, medium". My brother repeated, "Cooked, as in cooked through". The waiter replied, "OK, medium". He goes to the next brother who ordered snapper and got the same back and forth routine. I ordered the tuna and to avoid the routine, asked for it "medium". The waiter said, "You can't have it medium, it only comes rare or medium rare". I repeated, "But I want it medium". He said, "I'll have to talk to my manager." Everyone at the table was surprised by this and started chuckling. I was a little astounded. The waiter came back and said, "The manager said it was OK". We uneventfully got our appetizers and then the main course arrived, all except mine. The waiter said to the table, "Enjoy." and started to walk away. My brother stopped him and pointed to my empty place setting said, "You forgot about his." The waiter said, "Oh." and walked back to the kitchen. Ten minutes went by. My family's food was getting cold while they waited for me to get my meal. I told them to go ahead, they waited anyway. He came out two times to deal with other tables and finally brought my tuna. He said, "Sorry". And the tuna was rare. Not even pink in the middle; beet red. It was a loosing battle. I just ate it. Why risk more humiliation? Why did we want our fish cooked through? Anisakiasis (herring worm), Vibrio, Listeria, Salmonella. The Address probably handled the fish properly, but we didn't want to risk it. I had to risk it anyway. The Address knew best, I didn't know what was best for me. Hopefully for The Address, it was a one off. I'll never know because there's plenty of other good restaurants in the area and no second chances for them.
Post note: This had nothing to do with the waiters’s English skills. He knew perfectly well what he was doing. It was just pure hubris...
Read moreWalked in without a reservation on a Friday night around 6:30. They were fully booked, but my mom and I were able to get seated at the bar in the back. It’s not a full service bar, it’s a coffee bar that also provides extra seating and space for staff to polish dishes.
Service was great. Everyone was really helpful and friendly despite how busy it was on a Friday night. Atmosphere is loud because it’s fully packed. There was one birthday while we were there and the announced it on the loudspeaker (whoever said Chuck E. Cheese in their review was on point lol), sang and everyone waved their napkin in the air. Super fun!
No liquor license, but the liquor store down the street will deliver to the hostess stand and they’ll bring your alcohol to your seat. Nice touch/workaround.
Grape leaves - didn’t love them because they were sweet instead of savory. They add cranberry and I think fig to them. Wouldn’t order again.
Chicken and beef souvlaki (skewers/kebabs) are both yummy and cooked well. They only come with mixed veggies and one slice of lemon potato, so if you want a full meal, you’re kinda forced to buy sides which run about $8. That’s on top of the $36(chicken)/$40(beef) it costs for ONE skewer. For this price and the lack of included carbs, they should really provide two skewers.
Branzino - cooked perfectly, but lacked salt or other seasonings. I understand many people can’t have salt in their diets, but this was pretty bland.
Rice side and lemon potato side - both yummy, but hurt at $8 a piece.
Pistachio baklava - tasty, but leaned rather sweet. I like that it came with a few fruit pieces and frozen goat milk/ice cream. It tasted like vanilla ice cream, but creamier. Yum!
Total was $180 including tip for two people with no alcohol. Overall, I enjoyed the food here, but it’s way too expensive for the portion sizes. There are definitely other places in Morris County where you can get similar food at a lower price without sacrificing service...
Read moreWe recently visited this restaurant and will start by saying that it has a great ambiance. However, we weren't very pleased with our server. He left the bread, cheese, and palate cleanser on our table without explaining what they were. At first, we thought they were sauces for the food, but we later clarified with the lady at the front desk, who happened to walk past our table.
Additionally, the server couldn't clearly explain the dishes we ordered from the spring menu (Veg. Meatballs). I asked if one of the dishes was baked, and he said yes, but when it arrived, that wasn't entirely accurate. After speaking with the manager, he agreed that the description was inaccurate and replaced it with another vegetarian item from the menu.
The overall unpleasant experience with our server was somewhat offset by the manager. He made the effort to visit every table and check in on how we were enjoying the food.
In the end, the server didn’t bring us the check either. We had to ask another server to provide it. Overall, I would say the ambiance was amazing, the non-vegetarian options were fantastic, and the manager truly cares about his customers. However, the service from our server was...
