First off, this is not a real laundromat! I walked in to do some laundry and when I pulled on the machine door to open it, the whole wall pulled open! I look through the doorway and find a massive beautiful chandelier, with stairs that go down to an incredible speakeasy! Needless to say, I wasn't doing laundry anymore that day. The place looks awesome inside, and I felt like I was underdressed for the occasion. I recommend something a little classy. There are two big bars and lots of seating, with some being wood log tables and 2 leather couches. I'm sure they'll make you whatever drink you want, and I doubt there are a lot of drinks that the bartenders don't know how to make, but I recommend you stick with their menu of special drinks. Personally, South Side Mistress is my favorite so far. The staff isn't uptight or condescending, like some speakeasys are. Just a great place to be. If you like a great mixed drink and are looking for a unique place to have a unique drink, this...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars I would. The manager is only out for himself along with the rest of his staff, they DO NOT CARE about their paying customers. The two burly men that sit on stools and call themselves security guards are not only disrespectful to women, but they told a man who identifies as a woman “when was the last time you looked in the mirror?” The whole 23 and up thing is supposed to stop problems but like I said the two degenerates on stools can barely do their job correctly. The bathrooms are always wet and slippery and I’ve never seen a wet floor sign. The bartenders are the only thing this place has going for them because they serve a cup of ice with a splash of alcohol... saving this place a bunch of money. They also claim they don’t have any cameras which can make an incident tough to show who’s actually in the wrong doing if anything were to happen. If i were you I would take yourself, money, and friends elsewhere before you too are very...
Read moreNice place - don't know if I'd go as far to say it's the "speak easy" vibe, cause having a live band is not that vibe. But, I went to see a band I knew, and it was great! The band (The Beverlees, great cover band) was amazing as usual, and the drinks were quite good. A little on the expensive side IMO, as I've been to high end speak easy bars in NYC that are comparable but way tastier drinks. Still good with 4 stars here; my bartender was quick and decent, plus he saved my drink for a good 20 mins when I went outside to chill with the band. Good guy, and he presents his techniques right on the counter. Several bartenders were showcasing their mixing skills, and I always appreciate that. Plus, I love mezcal, and my 2nd and 3rd drinks both had mezcal and they were good (George Kush, and Sweet Emotion I think they were) Plus the Apple Old Fashioned is what I i started with, so I was satisfied (that drink could use some tweaking, but the smokiness...
