I’m done with Hipoke. I come here about once every other week. I’ve been coming since they opened. I always get the unagi bowl but now the price has gone from 12.99 to 14.99. Fine I understand the rising food costs. But if you are going to raise the price atleast give a decant portion of eel. I made my own bowl and only got one protein: The eel. And in my bowl I only got two slices of eel. I saw her take it out and place it in the bowl and it was only two slices. I can buy a whole eel for that price at HMart. And today the girl didn’t even warm it up, so I got cold eel.The ladies who used to work here were really nice but this new young girl they got working always has a scowl on her face and never looks like she wants to be there. She’s lazy too. I’ve had issues with her several times and never say anything but today she didn’t heat my eel and she just tossed it in the bowl with the rest of the ingredients and she barely gave me any food. At 2pm there were hardly any choices bc she hadn’t refilled any of the food containers so the choices were limited. The majority of my bowl was lettuce. If I wanted a salad I would have gone somewhere else. I used to have leftovers but today I ate all my bowl and had to go Nextdoor to Alpaca to get plantains. These bowls are not worth $15. So I will not...
Read moreA decent selection of fish and toppings you can choose from. This place opened recently, so I'm giving it the benefit of doubt and not awarding it a one star.
Generous portions - except for the actual amount of fish. I'm no poke snob, but typically when you order poke, the highlight of it is the fish. I've been here two times, and both times I got a laughably small amount of fish in my bowl (two tablespoons). The most recent time I went there, I was so confused by the fish-to-rice ratio that I had to ask the person serving me if they were being serious. I said something like "the amount of fish I'm getting is very small (nervous laughter). Are you sure?", to which she replied, "yes. the fish very large. We cut big fish into small pieces." Not sure what to make of that response, I blinked awkwardly...but I ended up with an extra spoonful of fish, so I think I got my point across.
For poke, you can skimp out on the rice, toppings, decor, drinks, literally anything else other than the fish. Eating a poke bowl without fish is like trying to feed your dog kale salad - it don't...
Read moreI have tried 2 other spots in the area and can finally say this is the winner. I will be buying my poke bowls from here from now on.
I placed an online order and it was ready quicker than expected. They are following CDC precautions at the moment - it was super easy going in and grabbing my order (no contact).
The bowl itself was perfect. A lot of people have claimed that they give adequate portions and they really do - specifically with the meat. I ordered the classic bowl and there was a hefty amount of tuna/salmon in it. The same went for the organic brown rice that I ordered. I was so happy that they had that as an option and it was fresh. I've been to some places where the brown rice looks and tastes like cardboard.
The other ingredients in the bowl were fresh and glowing in color (carrots, seaweed salad, mango, etc.). I also appreciate that they didn't drown my poke bowl in sauce. A lot of places like to do that. It was not too much and not too little. Overall, a pleasant experience and I couldn't have been...
