It appears that Meeples in Morrisville has been either sold or is under new management. All of the highly competent and experienced staff members appear to have been fired and replaced with people who seem to be new to running a coffee bar. It should not take an hour or more to get a coffee drink. It is a disservice to both employees and customers to just throw new workers into the deep end of the metaphorical pool and expect them to know what they're doing.
For two weeks one of the bathrooms has been unusable and there isn't so much as a sign on the door. I feel like these new people mean well and want to succeed but so far seem to be over their heads when the place is busy. People talk about being a barista as being an unskilled job, but it isn't. Meeples has a varied menu of coffee and tea drinks and the staff needs training. I hope they can get their act together, because Meeples is a valuable community resource...
Read moreWent here to play board games with friends. However, most patrons were there for coffee which made the volume of the cafe louder than preferable for game play. Another issue was only one table in the store was sized large enough to properly have a game board, the rest were too small width wise for most boards+player area. We had to wait for the group sitting at this table to leave before we could play the game we wanted to as there was simply not enough space at our table. Despite these issues, the board game selection was nice and the staff were very helpful and kind. If you want to play games, I would recommend going later in the afternoon as most people there for coffee were primarily there in the morning. There's also a lovely local artist section with stickers, art prints, journals, and crocheted items. Shout out to Nicole for being a wonderful help with suggesting games and...
Read moreMeeples is a coffee shop that need some attention. I really like the theme of board games on hand and the option to play them. We didn’t, but it seems like there are memberships to play and rent. I didn’t ask about it, but something to consider. The coffee is ok, and I like they have specialty drinks like Rose Matcha and Butterscotch latte. I ordered the cinnamon dolce latte and it was pretty good. The breakfast is ok too, but they try to upsell the bread options on their sandwiches. I ordered the bacon and egg and it wasn’t great. The egg seems like it comes in a hard boiled egg type mold. Overall, the cafe seems like it’s missing some care and attention to detail. It needs a refresh and with some love, I think the place...
