Hillbilly Ice & Creamery — Restaurant in Mount Airy

We were here Saturday night and there were no other customers in the store. There were 4 of us, 3 of which were getting ice cream. The server was the rudest, most uninterested server I've ever had. She acted like we were bothering her by ordering her ice cream. When we got our orders, she didn't offer us any kind of eating utensil even though, clearly, we would need one. I asked her for a spoon and she informed me they didn't have any and I could use a fork. Mind you, she didn't offer to get me one but I was able to find one at the cash register. When I tried to get a napkin, she just ignored me completely. I was able to find one hidden in a basket up on the ice cream counter. There was another couple that came in after we did and we helped them out as much as we could because there was NO help coming from the server after she made their order up. This was my first and last time in this shop! Whit's is just down the street and it's a much better place and they're always friendly! If I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. The ice cream was alright but couldn't possibly make up for the server's...

Staff seem disinterested and inattentive, and the cleanliness leaves much to be desired. Tables are often cluttered with leftover napkins and spills, creating an unappealing atmosphere. It's a shame, as the location and theme are promising. With improved attention to cleanliness, better staff training, and more consistent ice cream flavors, Hillbilly could be a true gem. My family and I stopped in this ice cream shop during a recent visit to Mount Airy. They have a wide variety of ice cream flavors available. I got two scoops and was given a very generous portion. The ice cream was delicious! The shop itself is very cute. There are lots of posters on the walls and the overall atmosphere is very colorful. I think kids would love coming here! We would definitely come back next time we are...
