Went on a 3/15/25 Saturday afternoon for lunch with a friend. We got the Crab Rangoon, a rainbow roll, and a Mt. Fuji roll. I'm new to NC and am exploring the restaurants around the local towns. Buisness was slow with only 2 other tables being used. Crab Rangoons were crisp and flaky but lacked crab meat. I tare the corners and get 4 bites out of 1 Rangoon. I did not come across any crab meat, just cream cheese filling. The sauce was not red, sweet, and sour sauce. They were served it with duck sauce. When I asked if they had red sauce, he said sure, but needed my little bowl that had the duck sauce in it, that my friend was using to eat his crab Rangoon. When I handed him the dish with duck sauce, he said he didn't have the red sweet and sour sauce. This leads me to believe he did not speak good English. A woman originally was our server, then she disappeared, and we got this guy. Mt. Fuju roll was okay, but not worth the 20$. It was supposed to have soft shell crab, but either the shell was so soft there was no crunch or flavor, or the crab was missing from there, too. I did get 2/6 pieces that I could taste the softshell crab. This leads me to believe they are only putting small pieces of soft shell crab in the roll. However, I could be wrong. The Rainbow roll was dry and made my friend concerned about the freshness of the raw fish. He said it was okay, nothing to write home about. We drank water. Our bill was...

We have been coming here and supporting this business for over 10 years. We have maintained our support even through inflation (even though their sushi has never been anything special). There has been a couple times when the hibachi was not that great, but not to the point where we had to take it back, until tonight. Our spring rolls were so greasy they were dripping, our plates tasted like they had been sitting out and the portion sizes were WAY off. We decided to drive back and politely ask them to remake the food and was shocked when the owner cocked an attitude with us and wanted to argue about how they have made their food fresh for 25 years, blah blah. We then had to sit for over 20 minutes waiting for them to remake everything just for it to come out to us the exact same way! This time it was the daughter who handed us our food and she has dealt with us for years and still argued back saying “spring rolls are cooked in grease so they will be greasy”. I explained to her that they have NEVER been that bad. She didn’t want to take that as an answer and continued to argue with us, REGULAR supportive customers at that. After tonight we have lost all respect for this business and do not plan to ever return. They DO NOT appreciate their long...

Came in to get a take out order. Ambience is lacking, but very nice staff. The have drive thru pickup window which is convenient. I didn't know this and couldn't find a menu online so I just went in and checked out the menu. I ordered teriyaki chicken dinner and 2 rolls (Herndon and I think Fantasy roll 1). Wasn't expecting green tobiko (dyed with squid ink), tuna seemed slightly seared or maybe they put something on it and it cured a little on my drive to the hotel. Ended up making the fish a tad dry in appearance and texture. One roll had raw carrot and I wasnt to keen on it, but still good. The other was great. Teriyaki dinner was enjoyed by our family and had plenty of veggies and chicken, over rice with teriyaki sauce. Sauce could be flavored better with use of less thickener and a little less sweetener. Maybe put in a small container of teriyaki sauce for to go orders, made a little mess around the box edges and the sauce went to the bottom and soaked all the rice on the bottom, it was super sugary. All in all a decent meal for our...

Recently dined at Kyoto in the charming Mayberry-esque town of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, and it exceeded my expectations. The restaurant offers remarkable value, with high-quality dishes at affordable prices. The menu boasts an impressive variety of fresh fish options, including red snapper, mahi-mahi, and scallops -- the only drawback is that i prefer such good selections to be baked or broiled. My choice appetizer was the crispy vegetable tempura: a crowd-pleaser, and "Tiger Teas" added a fun, youthful vibe -- as well as the Nascar paintings on the wall which were humorously out of place. Our server, a kind Indonesian gentleman, was exceptional. He took great care to ensure our orders were tailored to our preferences, making the experience feel personalized and attentive. Anyone craving Japanese fare in Mt. Airy should try it out.
