I was invited here by a buddy to see the Ararat river and take a little walk. His two girls (ages 6 and 8) wanted to play on the play equipment. I decided to join them on the play equipment. We stopped playing for a few minutes and sat and they shared some of their candy with me. While we were eating candy, two guys approached and asked me if I’m a weirdo and said I’m too old to be playing with kids. They told me “get a life” and harassed me. The kids told them I’m awesome and a friend. They insulted the kids, told them they’re too young and not smart enough to understand things. My buddy came over and told the guys I’m a nice person. They started in on my buddy, telling him he’s crazy to let me play with his girls. They harassed us for about 10 to 15 minutes. I almost called the police because one of them threatened me. He said “let me catch you by yourself somewhere” so I’m not sure how safe Riverside Park is. It seems pretty safe. I guess people just don’t think a grown adult should have any younger friends or be close to younger people. It’s truly a sad world...

Great place,I am from Cincinnati and wanted to play some picklball and this place had 3 courts. Nice courts. The people there were so nice and some very good players. They start around 8am very day weather permitting! Scott,Ricky,Calvin,Ted all were very happy for a outsider to play,Pickleball can be kinda picky at some places, not this place thou. The rest of the park is very nice too, play grounds, pavilion and restrooms were clean,it also had a very long path, not so sure of length but it was miles long. There is a rumor about 3 more courts and moving basketball courts also . I been to this park several times and always felt safe . I...

The park itself is nice. There are plenty of play areas for the kids. There's a toddler area and a big kid area. There is a walking/bike path, a small river, basketball court, and fields. The down side is the area. There is a big drug problem in the town. A kid stepped on a needle in one of the fields before. People smoke right at the entrance, or even in the park. There is a a shelter with a picnic area and lots of people up to no good hang out under it. It's unfortunate. So it's a nice park depending on how many crazies are at the park that day and if it's recently been...

One of the great things about having an RV is that if you feel like you want a nap, all you need to do is find a quiet and level parking space. This morning, that was the Riverside Park. It's quiet and it's peaceful and if the timing is right, there is some shade And after the nap, it was nice to get out and stretch our legs with a walk around. The park has a nice playground, a skate park, a kayak launch, a public restroom and it functions as a trailhead for the Riverside Park Granite City Greenway. Enjoy your time here!

Beautiful park that slithers right beside the Ararat River complete with a great playground, tennis, basketball court, and skate park. Lots of green well maintained fields. The greenway trail is beside the park and is an excellent place to bike or walk (but not alone based on recent events). A lot of people and dogs swim in the river during the warmer months. I’ve also seen people take advantage of the kayak/canoe launch there too. Just be careful of glass in the river if getting in the water.

The park is exceptionally clean with plenty of activities for kids of all ages! For our 10 month old, the baby swing attached to an adult swing was the big winner. The only down side to the park is that there isn't any shade on the swings or play yards, and on a 75℉ day, it can feel a bit like playing in Hades. There is a nice little pavilion in the center with benches to cool off at though.
