This is strictly about the catering! I waited to write a review hoping that something would be resolved but it was not!! I paid to have Pieces Rising cater my wedding and it did not go well. For our second tasting we agreed that our food would sit for 30/45 minutes so that we could taste it how our guests will be tasting and they did not do that for us even with reminders to do this for us and we were assured that they donât do that and that they would be preparing the food on site. I had to pay extra for napkins and runners 1 week prior to wedding that we had discussed prior but they did not have that style anymore so we had to scramble to RENT the right linens. The day of they were late they were suppose to be there before everyone!I was lead to believe They would be setting up/preparing food at the venue And they did not show up til maybe 4 wedding at 6 Dinner 730, we had Hors dâoeuvres passed out during cocktail hour and the staff did not know what they were passing out, Dinner was Buffet style, but Salad and bread were suppose to be on the tables before my guest sat (per contract)and they were not pushing our dinner time back which in turn shortened our reception. The pork roast with apple gastrique looked AWFUL, the gastrique was supposed to be poured over the pork but it was left in the buffet dishes and it sat which made it look terrible still tasted good but not pleasant to look at⌠Now my worst problem is with my cake 3 tier cake with cupcakes and there was no leftover cake??? No one can answer me back of what happened to my cake so I assume it got Thrown away and then my cake top which is suppose to be saved and we were told we had to bring our on cake dish to save said cake and that never got used, next day unloading our alcohol we found our cake top in a Sam adams beer box with plastic wrap around it, so needless to say the cake was ruined (pics included) and No one cares also the food was suppose to end up with my mom and it ended up in the alcohol truck and no one was aware that it was food, so that was ruined as well poor planning I guess on my part not keeping track of the catering company on my wedding! But if you use these guys be extra careful because they clearly...
Read moreWorst experience ever. Do NOT eat here. We decided to come here for my little sisters rehearsal dinner and it was the worst service I have ever experienced. We waited 30 minutes for our first round of drinks so we went to the bar. And then got chastised by the servers for not ordering through them and they told us we werenât allowed to go to the bar. As a server/restaurant manager of 20 plus years I can tell you we were allowed they were just mad at the loss of sales due to their poor service. Then they brought the salads out and I was in the restroom as were a few others and they only left salads for those that were actually in their seats at the time they served them. Even though there were name tags and entrees listed clearly where the empty seats were that included a salad. When we reentered they didnât offer the salads. Then the entrees came. I did not hear one yum or rave review aside from the shrimp and grits. Everything else (steak, chicken, mushroom ravioli) only got eaten because it took and hour and a half for a pre-ordered meal to arrive from a set menu. Then in the middle of entrees the ASSISTANT general manager (who introduced himself as THE GENERAL manager) came and YELLED and when I say yelled he yelled that his servers let him know we were feeding an underaged child drinks. (No one asked for ID or said who was the person feeding them) My niece had not had one sip of alcohol. We got in a yelling match and he told me he wouldnât get the police to come use breathalyzer to prove it because my niece was prepared to prove them wrong. Maybe they mistook one of the 7 wine glasses that werenât being cleared or replaced with full ones shoved to the end of the table near her as hers. He left to prepare dessert and the ASSISTANT Shane was cutting cake and plating it with no gloves and touching every single piece with his bare hands. Needless to say I would not recommend anyone eating at this establishment and this man Shane delivered by far the worst customer service along with his servers I have ever had the displeasure of receiving. How he became a manager is beyond me. Avoid...
Read moreI am reconsidering my review from two days ago. I am impressed with the response from the management of Pices Rising. Joshua and I have exchanged several emails regarding my initial post. I have changed my star review scores to reflect the positive experience I have had since the night I posted my initial review. The management was exceptionally responsive. Also, to be clear, I was offered no favor in exchange for my editing the choices that I've made. Hopefully, should you visit Pices Rising, the level of service and attitude has been positively effected by Joshua's influence. You should make your own decision on the expereince and food.
Proloque... added after dinner.
To be fair, I am adding a proloque to my rating. editing by initial review. But it does not change my mind about advising to look at other eating venues before choosing this place.
My meal was excellent. Shrimp and Grits. Prepared well. Others in our group were less than satisfied. But as for mine it was very tasty.
Original post follows:
Pices Rising in Mt. Dora should be avoided... their hospitality is less.than acceptable.
We attempted to sit outside at a table and order drinks while waiting for the rest of our party of twenty to arrive for dinner in the private room. A waitress came by, took our six drink orders. However, we were told by the hostess we would need to move either to the bar or inside. Apparently the seven other empty tables and ours were only for diners.
Ok... We are just going to be there about twenty minutes before our reservation time of 6:15.
Eventhough we asked to just be there about 20 minutes before we go in to eat and there were seven empty tables around us, our group of six were ushered inside to the bar.
I canceled our drinks and took a stroll until 6:15.
The place, Pices Rising, has lost all appeal for our returning there to eat. There are many other places to eat in downtown Mt. Dora. I'd avoid Pices Rising. Oh, did I mention we...
