I grew up in Mt Dora, in the summers and was thrilled to go for my 26th wedding anniversary. I am a chef so I was excited to meet a very talented chef and owner. Except they live in Miami and are not on site. Its not fair to spout about a chef in house, if they are not present. The place is in need, of a bit of a redo. Just a bit sad as the town of Mt. Dora now is. The room was not to par. We sat in it looking at each other in disappointment. We almost left but decided to make the best of it. The best part was the wonderful and helpful host (not the owners). They cooked a nice breakfast for us and pointed us in the best direction they could. Good food was not to be found anywhere. Our highlight was walking the lakefront park. It is very convenient to walk to town if there was a decent place to go in town. The 2 stars are only because of the the staff. Gas powered leaf blower at 6am in the morning and a loud mexican restaurant parking lot next door. The restaurant uses a pressure washer at 11pm to clean up. A nightmare of an anniversary in a too high priced b and b. It was not worth it even with there...
Read moreThis was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and it was the best experience I could ever hope for. I travel every week for work and generally stay at large hotel chains. I went out on a whim and booked a week at the bed and breakfast and was not disappointed in the least bit. My bedroom was absolutely adorable and so comfortable with a fridge , AC, heater and TV. It had all the things I needed to feel comfortable and all the charm that made it feel like I was in a country retreat. The breakfast is by far the best breakfast I have ever had while traveling. The food was so clearly made with so much love and attention to detail down to the placement of the fruit in the bowl. I looked forward to coming down every morning and seeing what would be served! The baked honey crisp apple, croissant French toast , 3 cheese soufflé were all delicious. They clearly take so much pride in what they do , and it shows. The staff are all so friendly and take the time to talk and get to know you. I can not say enough good things about this place - it’s truely a gem. Can’t wait to bring my family...
Read moreIt was our first visit to Mount Dora and I am so glad my husband booked a room at Mount Dora Historic Inn. We stayed one night, and had a very nice experience! This Inn is so conveniently located to all the shops and restaurants in Mount Dora! We were in Mount Dora for a golf game my husband was playing in the area. The room was very comfortable and quiet! We got a great night’s sleep! We left early the next morning, and my husband had put his wallet in the dresser drawer, and forgot all about it. We didn’t realize he didn’t have his wallet until we got back home which was two hours away. We called, and were told they had my husband’s wallet, and they would mail it back to us in the morning. We received the wallet in one day! We thank the management so much for the prompt and special attention in getting the wallet back with such expediency! We enjoyed our stay in Mount Dora, and plan on making other visits. We will definitely stay at Mount Dora Historic Inn! Thanks for...
