I dont normally leave reviews but this time I can not help myself. The time it took to get our food was insane. Truth be told we were insane to have stayed and waited that long. The place was busy, fair enough, we were told it would be 35-45 minutes to get served instead of their normal 15-20 minutes. We agreed, they were busy and we understood. We order 3 hamburgers, 1 Panini, and an order of fish and chips. Let me say that the server was fine, she was actually the only person in the place who cared about helping us at all. We arrived at 7:20pm, seated at 7:30pm, and received our food at almost 9pm. 3 hamburgers, 1 Panini, and an order of fish and chips, this was worth repeating. The 3 hamburgers would all be cooked at the same time on a grill, the Panini would be cooking at the same time in a sandwhich press, and the fish and chips would be also cooked at the time in a fryer. When we complained about the wait we were told that the hamburgers are made to order and they take the longest to prepare and they were busy and we should just understand. This what we were told by the person who showed up at our table when we asked to speak to a manager. Earlier we spoke to another man, tall, older, glasses, and when we told him that we have been waiting for over and hour he responded "really" and walked away. Again I have never completed a review before but in my defense I have never had service anywhere close to as bad as this before so forgive me if I feel compelled to pass this on. The server was fine, she tried hard for us, it was very obviously her support staff and especially the supervisors that were terrible at what they do. Heres the kicker, after all of that, they gave us free soda and water, charged us full price for the food, and in the end, the from scratch, hand made burgers were nothing more than average, the Panini was a pressed sandwhich like you would make at your house and the fish itself was good but it was fried in dirty grease so I ended up with a brown burnt tasting batter on a good piece of fish and again the fries were just average fries. I can see no scenario why I, my family, my friends, or anyone that would ever ask me about this place would ever go there again. 2 hrs of my life gone for a just ok burger that they charge $10-$11 bucks a piece for. Truth be told I blame myself for staying and allowing this place to treat us this way. I will just go back to eating anywhere else which would serve us better. It wouldnt let me select 0 stars but to be honest the server was fine its the place she works for...

Horrible experience that not a single employee attempted to make better.

One star, because the food that didn't have glass in it was okay.

On our first vacation in years, we head to this bar based on suggestions from family. Never again.

We proceeded to be sat next to one of the most inebriated individuals I've seen in a long time, who consistently was grabbing my partner and I's chairs/physically touching us to stay upright. Think the bartenders would stop serving the clearly impared individual that could barely stand upright? Of course not. Instead they fed her drink after drink, until the drunken customer smashed her glass all over my significant others meal. I'll repeat; GLASS flew all over her food, into our drinks, all over US, and instead of asking us if we'd like replacement food or drinks, instead of offering to compensate us for our now GLASS infested meal, the bartenders who all watched this event happen, simply look at my significant other and inform her of the glass in her food and how she "probably doesn't want to eat that now" (no kidding). Then turns around and pours ANOTHER DRINK for the drunken beyond any doubt patron that just broke glass all over us!!! Not even a lousy apology from them, just straight to irresponsibly feeding more drinks to a drunken individual with a clear drinking issue. What?!?!?

Never again. Your bartenders allowed a person to continue on a dangerous path that could of ended up a lot worse than broken glass on your other customers and their meals. And instead of trying to make anything better for us, they simply hand me a check for $50. What kind of establishment lets something like that happen and then expects the victims to pay the bill in full? I paid it to get out of there so my significant other could go and shower the glass off of her/out of her hair and immediately let all of my friends/family/business acquaintances know what an irresponsible and unprofessional establishment this place really is. In 15 years, this was the absolute single worst experience I've ever had...

Deserves NO stars, DO NOT RECOMMEND Stopped in on a Friday around 1pm April 2022 and it was not busy. There were three of us and we each ordered a burger & fries. After 1 hour, I witnessed 2-3 other tables get seated and served drinks, appetizers. I asked our waitress if we could order appetizers because I didn’t realize how long it would take to get our food. I was not upset at this point but when she said our food would come before the appetizers, I asked how much longer and she did not have an answer. So I asked for crackers or chips or popcorn to hold us over she brought us 5 saltine crackers and then walked away. After another 20 minutes I saw all the other tables that sat after us being served their entrees. Our waitress had not given us an update nor apologized for any delays so I asked to see a manager. They stated no managers working that day. The bartender was sent over and told us basically to keep waiting as “dining out isn’t what it used to be” and was non apologetic nor could give us a reason why it had been 90 minutes and still no food. I stated that maybe “our tickets got mixed up?” And bartender said “yeah maybe” and walked away. Everyone was just so unapologetic, no one cared. Our food came out 15 minutes later and of course then the bill, not even 5-10% discount for waiting almost 2 hours for a burger during non peak time. Not even a comped glass of wine or beer for our wait. Super disappointing. I visit Mount Dora every month and I will never eat here again and advise all who ask me where to eat to steer clear of this place. Worst service ever. I’m still shocked because it takes alot for me to complain about a restaurant, I don’t even remember when I’ve had such a bad experience that made me want to leave a review. I...

To start out parking sucks in Downtown Mount Dora. We were in the area and wanted to eat before we headed home. I liked the name of the place and I saw that it got some decent reviews. So we decided to try it. I did notice that the reviews were old. I always find it weird when no one has reviewed a place in a while. It’s kind of strange because you have to go down the stairs to get to it. But Mount Dora is weird and it has hills in certain areas. It’s not a big place and it wasn’t that busy when we were there. It was a Saturday at about 5:30 pm. It seemed to me that only two people work on the floor at the same time. Things took a little longer then they should have. Like I said it wasn’t busy but two people had to greet customers coming in from one of two doors, serve the bar, wait on tables, clean tables, deliver food to the tables, etc. There was someone in the kitchen listening to 50 Cent pretty loud when I walked by it. Not that I care what he was listening to but I thought it was a little weird that it was so loud. The bathroom is not very nice. It has a cool picture of Elvis shaking Richard Nixons hand when he was President in the men’s room. I think it doubles as a public restroom. But it is a bar as well. Decent sized bar. You can sit anywhere, at the bar or at a table. They didn’t have any sweet tea. Only had ice tea. Pretty simple menu. We both had cheeseburgers with fries. The food was good. I just think they need an extra person to help out on the floor. Things just seem to take longer and I would have to ask them if I needed something. We didn’t drink anything so I can’t tell you how the bar was.

The Frog and Monkey Restaurant has become one of our favorites restaurants in Mount Dora. Located in the basement so for entering you have to walk down some stairs. Now, from the moment you walk in you will be greated by everyone. You can tell that a lot of the local folks visit this restaurant regularly. But then, why not. The first time we went it was so good that I forgot to take picture of the food!!!! The steak (ribeye) was cooked perfect! Very comparable to one of those famous steak houses. I tell you is so good that you will want to have it again. Also tasted a vegetarian portobello mushroom sandwich that you will not miss the fact that there is no meat. The fish and chips was excellent. The fish was cooked perfect and the chips were awesome. I opted for sweet potatoes fries. Now we went again and this time I took pictures.. and let me tell you I started on the soup and I was reminded that I had not taken any pics!!! AGAIN! This time we both had the French Onion soup... the broth was tasty, rich, amazing! , the onions perfectly caramelized!!! what a treat. We also order the wings. The rub they used is amazing. I was trying to figure out the seasonings... So deliciously good! We also had a large Caesar's Salad and Teriyaki Chicken Salad. Now, let's talk about the service... All the staff at this place from the wonderful servers that took care of us, to the bartenders to the folks in the kitchen will make you feel like family. So service is top notch at this place. Want to keep this place a secret. But The Frog and Monkey has become a regular hang out for us.

My mom, sister, a family friend, and I made an afternoon trip to Mt Dora to check out the lights. There are so many places to eat in downtown Mt Dora that you would need to spend lots of time making your way thru them all! We were walking past the entrance to the Renaissance Building and saw the sign for the Frog and Monkey and decided to have dinner there. We made our way down the stairs and walked in--not sure if the entry from outside is the main entrance or if the entry near the restrooms is the main entrance--either way, we were greeted and taken to a table pretty quickly. Service after that was slow but friendly-- our server was clearly busy. It looked like she was the only one taking orders, filling drinks, etc and a couple guys were bussing tables and bringing food out. My sister and I are pretty patient when it comes to slow service so we were fine--my mom and her friend on the other hand, can become irritating with their comments to themselves and turning around in their chairs looking for their food (🙄🙄 lol..) But the food did come and it was good! We started with the bruschetta appetizer, and our entrees were the Turkey and Brie panini, Turkey Reuben, Ceasar Salad with Shrimp, and the Fish & Chips. Everyone enjoyed their meals! Although service was quite slow, this wouldnt stop me from going again. The menu isnt huge, but there are plenty of choices, and I saw some really good looking burgers come out to other tables. Loved the location downstairs, too!
