Fiesta Grande Mexican Grill is a cozy Mexican restaurant nestled into the edge of the downtown Mount Dora area, offering Mexican inspired dishes and plenty of boozy selections.

Value — The overall portion size versus price is pretty on par and what I would expect from a restaurant charging around $16 to $20 per plate. You get a lot of food. Happy hour’s 2-in-1 deal is really nice and runs long enough that you can still get in for happy hour at dinner time.

Service — Staff is very nice and accommodating, trying to seat people at the bar until their tables are ready. Very attentive at the table.

Quality — I was impressed with the quality of the food. I ordered the steak and chicken fajitas. It was good but I was confused by the rice. Having been to Mexican restaurants from California to Texas and here in Florida, I can’t say I’ve ever had rice with (regular not pigeon) peas, green beans, diced carrots and diced corn. It felt like the rice was bulked up with veggies and it did not quite remind me of traditional Mexican rice so I didn’t understand why it was there. The taste of the rice was good but the mixed-in vegetables did take away from the dish. The refried beans, again, had great taste but were a bit on the loose end. I’d have liked to see a thick mat of beans I’m used to. The margaritas tasted good but I felt the creation could’ve been better executed if there was real fruit used rather than just a juice mixture added depending on the flavor ordered. They were good, but not special to us. The fajitas were very well cooked and very well flavored. The vegetables on the sizzling pan were seasoned through and through, and it added a lot to every bite. The attention to flavor detail here is very good.

Atmosphere - A beautifully decorated restaurant with many colors and call backs to Mexico hanging on the walls. If I’m being a bit picky, the low pile carpeted floors really do take away from the atmosphere of this restaurant. I think if the day came that the owners decided to redo the flooring, a traditional Mexican tile flooring or clay-style cut flooring would just take this place over the top for looks, I have to tell you! Otherwise, great job making use of this space. It is a wonderful atmosphere for a date night.

Overall — Fiesta Grande Mexican Grill has the potential to be the best Mexican restaurant in town, but I feel they have some room for improvement, minimally. However, these minimal adjustments (removing the random veggies from the rice, thickening up the beans, updating the out of place carpet, using real fruit in their drinks and not juice, make your own chips in house and don’t pour them from a bag) would make for a maximum outcome.

I place Fiesta Grande Mexican Grille at 3.8 stars. I will definitely be returning to try other dishes and savor other drinks with friends. This place is by far one of...

I am the wife of the other review where he says the waitress called his wife fat.

Parking was easy. We were seated quickly in a booth in the back even tho there were several (seemingly) available booths in the front. We waited a while for a server to come. She greeted us and let us know it was happy hour. I spoke first and asked if the products were Coke or Pepsi. She said Pepsi. I said "Okay, I'll have a Pepsi." She then asks, "Diet?" I say, "No. Regular Pepsi." She then asks my husband for his drink but doesn't offer him diet.

The chips arrive and a few moments later she brings our drinks. Great. Salsa is good and chips are crispy. The server asked if we were ready to order. I said yes and told her I wanted the Molcajeta Caliente. She says, "To split?" I said, "No? That would be for me?" Without further explaining why she would ask if I wanted to split it - she asks my husband for his order. He orders some meal that is a large burrito. She doesn't ask if he wants to split his meal.

A separate server brought us our food. Our server could be seen tending to other tables and talking with other workers. Which is totally fine except my drink was empty for the better portion of our meal. I had to get a different server to fill my drink & by the time I got someone's attention, we both needed a refill.

The food was mid. If the bill was any more than $50 I would've been very displeased. This food seemed barely seasoned compared to what I'm used to (I am from Brazil). Not a fan of the open concept in the back. You can see the servers getting people's drinks. You can also see them entering in orders on the touchscreen POS then coming into contact with your food and drinks. Seems kind of unkempt.

My husband had to waive down our server to get a box and the check. When she returned with the box and the check she placed the check next to him and the box next to me. She walked away. I gave my husband my card to put with the bill. She picked it up, brought it back to him. While handing the check to him she turned her back to me and said, "Happy New Year, sir."

I'm not quite sure what to make of all of those very odd things the server did. I would like to hope she wasn't subconsciously calling me fat/being rude. I quite literally did nothing to this lady and she was (what I perceived to be) rude to me for the entire time I was there. A customer's perception is the reality of your business to them. I would not recommend...

The manager kindly contacted me and was willing to make things right! He was very nice, apologized and refunded us for the incorrect meal. We appreciated this so much.**

Our 1st time dining here. We were happy to try new place from word of mouth. We are vegetarians & were pleased to see they had Veg & Vegan options. It was a busy evening for them & we waited for 25 mins, no problem. We were seated outdoors, waited a bit to be noticed & another server came to our table to offer us a drink. She was kind-Then our designated server came. We ordered our food (1 vegetarian1 vegan and 2 fish tacos for my husband). They food was served to us. The plates were nicely put together. My daughter went to eat her Burrito and it was beef. We waited for our server to come back around to check on us. When he did-we told him her dinner was not vegetarian, but with Beef. He took her plate and said he will have another one made for her (no apology). We waited, I shared my food with my daughter as she was hungry:). Time passed, No one came around to let us know how much longer her food would be nor any apology form the manager? Server? I then reached out to another staff member & asked him, he said he would check. About 5 mins later her food arrived. The plate was a mess:(. You can tell they must have 'forgotten' her food & just threw together an unpresentable plate. It looked like mush:(.

We did not see our server for some time after that to inform him-the nice server that was also in that area- attended to us and we just ask for a to go box for mine and the check. Since they were busy attending to their many customers, I called them when I got home & spoke to one of the employees in charge to let them know our experience and that were disappointed with the way our daughter's dinner came out. They did apologize however it did not seem very apologetic. I do not think we will be returning to Fiesta Grande, as it seems new customers are not in...

Okay SO both the food and service here were EXCELLENT. The salsa was very fresh with a great spice level for me albeit too spicy for my parents however we all thoroughly enjoyed the guacamole. That molcajete (shrimp) was honestly one of the best things I have eaten at any mexican restaurant anywhere (and I have been to maaaaany) hands down. It was phenomenal! Our waitress was very friendly as well as attentive to all of our needs. I REALLY wish I could leave a 5 star review here but this was far and away the LOUDEST restaurant I have EVER eaten at in my life! We sat outside on their patio and my god it was like I was in a nightmare of noise. I am sensory sensitive but my parents with me are not and my dad actually had to get up and leave before he was fully finished eating because he could not handle the noise level. We could not hold much of a conversation. Had my meal not been SO spectacular to capture my attention to the degree it did I would have had to walk out immediatly upon being seated. Its hard to even understand how it was so loud. Yes, there were a lot of kids out there but I have been in chuckee cheese restaurants quieter than that. I think its the design of the pation The acoustics out there just amplify the sound to extreme decibles. It was wild. Maybe sitting inside would be better? The food would be worth giving it a try or at the very least ordering take out because, again, its FANTASTIC!
