Waited almost 20 minutes before waitress brought me water, took my order, or acknowledged me in any way after I was seated at my table. (I think she finally noticed me ONLY because I had gotten up, walked over to the next table, & stood there & started talking with them.)
Ordered fried cheese curds and other hot food. A server initially brought the HOT cheese curds to my table on the appetizer tray it usually comes on, which was just fine. Then my waitress came over & said that I should have a little plate, (which I did not ask for, nor need). And she brought me a FREEZING COLD little plate and told me I could put my food onto it. It doesn't make ANY sense to put hot/warm food onto a FREEZING plate to eat it. No one wants their fresh hot food COLD and hard! I later told the woman who initially said she was the manager (found out later that she was not). She responded, that was their policy to give customers those little plates. I tried to explain to her that the problem was not a little plate, that it is just Common Sense NOT to put food that is suppose to be HOT onto an ice cold plate.
There were a couple other logical suggestions I made (like NOT handing a customer the MORE EXPENSIVE AFTER 3:00 menu and taking away the less expensive lunch menu with the exact same items on it except for price, when I was about to order and it was BEFORE 2:45), to which she just kept smiling and giving me a blank stare and responding like a mindless robot, repeating over & over "that's our policy", instead of thinking logically and using any common sense.
(My comments are from trying this place twice now.)
One additional positive note:
Of all of the people I have met there and have talked with on the phone there, the only person that seems truly competent and genuinely caring has been a woman named Jordy. My phone conversation with her inquiring about the place was the reason I tried that restaurant in the first place!
My phone calls with two other workers at the Buck & Honeys made me feel as if they couldn't care less if I went there or not. And my overall experiences with the others were disappointing and frustrating.
My encounter with Jordy when I walked into the building the first time was the highlight of my experiences there.
Don't lose Jordy. She knows what she is doing. And she...
Read moreMy friend is a traveling store manager for a large grocery store brand so I was in Platteville, Wisconsin to celebrate their birthday. The town is nice but no real options worth sitting down to celebrate a birthday - hence how we came upon this gem. It was about a 45min drive out and worth every bit of it.
Upon entering the town itself you were being dealt vibes and that just carried over into entering the location. Once seated I can't lie; I was bit skeptic about what I just signed us up for since the menu is eclectic - a little bit of everything (American, Thai, Soul/Creole).
We started with drinks - I can't remember what we had but I guarantee you they were bussing. Food wise; we started with their firecracker shrimp. It was at this moment I knew that my white cousins knew their way around the kitchen. This appetizer could stand on its own but they weren't done snapping just yet.
For the main course I had their stuffed chicken breast; which was breaded and accompanied by a la a country gravy, mac and cheese and broccolini. My friend has Cajun Pasta.
We tasted each other's meals and agreed: fresh, favorable and fulfilling.
I gave them 5 stars in every department. I'm not sure what would put someone in this hidden gem of a town but if you're close by you have to stop...
Read moreWhat a disappointment. Husband and I were on vacation and choose this as our one "expensive" dinner. We didn't mind the prices but the food was awful. Our waitress was sweet but maybe new? I asked for a "fruity" moscoe mule. She left and came back with the menu showing me a lemongrass mule that was on the non alcoholic menu but said they could make it as a regular mule too. I ordered that. When it came it was non alcoholic. Fine, but I would never have ordered a $8 non alcoholic drink. My husband got the ribeye I got the fillet mignon. Our order took awhile to come out they said because they over cooked his and had to redo it. (They gave us 15% off because of that) no problem. When the did come out,his was 14oz and about 8oz was pure inedible fat/gristle. The other half he could eat was so bland he had to add a ton of pepper. Also, we had to cut our steaks with butter knives because no steak knives are provided. My steak was way over cooked. I still ate it but it had no flavor. These both were $48 steaks each. You can tell they order the cheapest steaks possible, which is fine but don't charge $48 for them then.I wouldn't eat there again even if it was free. Atmosphere reminded me of a chain restaurant like Applebee's. Baked French onion soup was the best part...
