A Hidden Gem for Korean Cuisine Lovers!
Shin’s Korean restaurant is an absolute treasure! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by a polite and helpful woman, who made us feel welcome and guided us through the menu as first-timers to Korean cuisine. It was such a thoughtful touch that set the tone for a perfect dining experience.
We began with the Pop Mahn-Doo, fried vegetable and fish dumplings served with kimchi and pickled yellow radish. These bite-sized appetizers were bursting with flavor! Each bite had a perfect balance of spice and tang, especially when paired with the tasty garnishes. I haven’t stopped thinking about them since—I’d give them a 10/10 without hesitation.
For our mains, we played it a bit safe, but even so, the dishes absolutely blew us away. We tried the Bul-Go-Gi, a savory beef stir-fry with rice, and the Dak Bokk-Eum, a delicious chicken stir-fry with rice. Both dishes were so flavorful and hearty that my husband and I placed them in the middle of the table to share because we couldn’t decide which one we loved more. Every bite was a delight, and the quality of the ingredients was evident. We finished with a sweet treat of strawberry mochi ice cream, and it was the perfect ending to an already amazing meal. The ice cream was creamy and refreshing, while the doughy exterior added a fun texture.
Overall, from the food to the service, everything was absolutely top-notch. I’m so excited to return, try more adventurous dishes, and once again enjoy the incredible atmosphere and flavors. Shin’s Korean restaurant gets my highest...
Read moreI've wanted to try Korean for a while and I finally went. I don't think I could eat anywhere else again. I got the Kimchi Pancake, Jae-Yok Bokk-eum, and Kimchi-Bokk-eumbap with Sausage. Each main dish came with two kimchi's: the normal napa cabbage and sweet radish. The nappa cabbage kimchi was PHENOMINAL!! I ate it with every bite and ate the juice with rice. The kimchi pancake was the perfect texture and perfectly cooked. The fried rice was yummy and the Jae-Yok Bokk-eum was good but I will ask for more spice next time, personally because I like spice.
They are super sweet, great customer service, cute little atmosphere (I ordered take out so I'm sure dining in experience is just as great), and the owners were so sweet.
Please try this place out, if you like fermented food or hot food this is perfect!! I could not recommend this any more highly. Gave me shivers down my whole body when taking my first bite, you felt the love in those dishes. 100/10, just perfect. Shin's in my go to place...
Read moreFor my money, the best restaurant in town, and I think we're incredibly fortunate Mount Pleasant has a restaurant of this quality.
I have worked and lived in China for 4 months and think this restaurant could in many ways rival the Korean food I ate there.
Many outstanding items, here are my favorites in no particular order
kimchi jigae - For the uninitiated, a moderately spicy soupy dish that has a rush of flavours chicken curry - I love this dish and theirs is excellent. also moderately spicy sweet beef - I don't recall the exact name, but I think if you are an average American, this sweet Korean BBQ dish will blow your mind. If you don't know where to begin with Korean food, this will likely be a mind altering start.
As an aside, I love kimchi and am a proponent of their kimchi pancake, but unlike the above dishes, that has not received universal plaudits.
For the herbivore out three, it does have many vegetarian options as well that are delicious. The jigae's are...
