We arrived shortly after 10 am on a Sunday to an approximate 20 minute wait. About 30 minutes later (reasonable wait for how busy they were) we were seated and ordered a kids French Toast breakfast, a kids Pancake breakfast, a Ham, Bacon, & Cheese Omelette, and a Chicken & Waffles meal. Nearly an hour later, our meal came to the table. It was a single cold pancake with a strip of bacon, one slice of cold French Toast with a strip of bacon, an omelette that looked as if it had been sitting on the counter for 30 minutes, and to top it all off, a chicken & waffles meal that consisted of three Eggo waffles (literally) and two kids size chicken strips. My wife immediately inquired about the Eggo waffles as the “norm” for that meal, to which the gentleman answered, “were you expecting a Belgian Waffle type waffle?” For $13.99, we were most certainly not expecting three Eggo waffles and two small chicken strips. To the restaurant’s credit, they took the meal and came back 10 minutes later with a single fluffy waffle and two larger pieces of chicken (as well as compensated the cost of the meal). Not sure why that wasn’t the case the first time, but better to come and explain the kitchen has run out of waffle batter, than to serve three Eggo waffles to a paying patron.
Our server (Hannah) was good. Unfortunately, the length of time to get our meal (even on a busy Sunday) and the terrible quality of the food do not justify the $60 price of...
Read moreI went with a friend to get lunch at Toast on Sunday. We often frequent the West Ashley location, but we were on the Mount Pleasant side and decided to try this one. We arrived at 1 and could tell the place was popping, following Sunday brunch time, made perfect sense. We were told it should only be 15-20 minutes, so we decided to wait. We gave one of our phone numbers and waited out front to prevent crowding. We saw multiple people leave and assumed the hostess was allowing the servers time to catch up. We saw people walk in and assumed they were also waiting to be seated. At 1:58 the hostess came outside and told us we could come in; I know this because we decided if we were not seated by 2, we were leaving. By this time the dining area was mostly empty, and we noticed all the walk-ins had been seated. We were seated with no menus or utensils and without an acknowledgment that we were clearly forgotten about. An apology and a menu would have made me happy. Stuff happens, I won't knock anyone for making a mistake, but I will knock someone for not making an effort to make it right. After we were seated for 10 minutes with 0 interaction and 0 attempts to recover the dining experience, we decided to go to King Street Grille and had some of the best service we've ever...
Read moreHad the pleasure of having a breakfast meeting with a potential client at Toast. Was greeted by my server Sheryl. My new client 👍🏻 was running a bit behind due to the rain and typical Mount Pleasant traffic. Sheryl was quick to offer something to drink, I said water would be fine. She in turn suggested a glass of fresh squeezed OJ that she had just squeezed and pointed to this cool looking orange machine. I said I had never seen anything quite like that before & why not, it looks interesting. Best fresh squeezed OJ I’ve ever had. My client arrives and sits down, again our waitress in on point and asks him if he would like something to drink, he asks for water as well. She smiles and says how about a fresh squeezed orange juice? I then point to the machine and say.. you have got to try the OJ. He does and it really broke the ice in my meeting this potential client, that in the end became an actual client. Her service as well as the delicious food hit this meeting out of the park!! Did I mention the size of the meals? The size of our portions where off the charts.I have never reviewed any business online and needed to give this place the recognition it deserves. Thank you Sheryl and Toast for making this awkward, stuffy business meeting have a down home...
