Let me paint you a full picture of my experience at Puerto Vallarta Family Mexican Restaurant in Mount Shasta because there’s so much more to love than just the Chile Rellenos (though those are insane).

First, the chips and salsa set the tone. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill, out-of-a-bag chips—they come out warm, fresh, and crispy, paired with salsa that’s bright and flavorful, with just the right amount of heat to wake up your taste buds. It’s the kind of salsa you can’t stop dipping into.

Next, I have to shout out their fajitas. Sizzling as they’re brought to the table, they’re loaded with perfectly seasoned steak, chicken, or shrimp, and plenty of grilled onions and peppers. The aroma alone had everyone at the table sneaking glances. And when I finally dug in, the flavors didn’t disappoint—juicy, tender, with a smoky char that hits just right.

Of course, I’ve already raved about the Chile Rellenos, but I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t mention their enchiladas. I had the mole enchiladas, and that sauce was something else—rich, slightly sweet, and packed with complex spices that only get better with every bite. Paired with their refried beans and Mexican rice, it’s a satisfying, stick-to-your-ribs kind of meal.

And the drinks! Their margaritas are huge and taste like they’re actually made with fresh lime juice. Whether you like them frozen or on the rocks, they’ve got you covered. They don’t hold back on the tequila either, which I appreciate.

Overall, Puerto Vallarta is a hidden gem in Mount Shasta. From the killer food to the friendly service, it’s a spot that delivers. You can come in starving and leave full, satisfied, and planning your next visit. Whether you’re craving those amazing Chile Rellenos or feel like mixing it up with their fajitas or enchiladas, you’re in...

My daughter and I were driving from California to Oregon (11hr). We stopped here to charge and went to the restaurant to eat and use the restroom. They would not let us use the restroom. Of course, logic says I can take my money and my business elsewhere. This restaurant location is at a Tesla supercharger spot so it is essential for electric car drivers to have "gas station" like services when we stop. These businesses that don't allow bathroom use unless you are buying a meal or item first, should NOT be at a Tesla supercharger location. Lol. I get that you may not want a "bad guy" (whatever way you describe people you don't want around) to dirty up your restroom or you may not want an unhoused person to make your restroom their long term home. But to turn away paying customers? I would get a dinner if they catered to customers on a long drive and stopping in small towns to charge up but if you want to be unhelpful and dismissive to people, who are NOT vagabonds, that are in need, then you don't deserve our business. Peace!

Thanks to the gentleman at O'Reillys who kindly allowed a mother and her kid to use the restroom. They did not have to be kind but they chose kindness. I hope PVFMR learns something from...

I'm so impressed! I lived in the area about 7 years ago. I don't remember them being there then. Passing through, and in search of a quick meal to hold us over on our journey, we decided to take a chance. Well worth the gamble! The service was spot on, the food was fresh, generous and absolutely delicious, and we were served in less time than it takes to drive through a fast food drive up .We were served immediately with home made salsa and freshly made, in house corn tortilla chips that were light and crispy, yet not oily or inconsistent..Thats pretty impressive! I ordered the taco salad, topped with impressive portions of guacamole and sour cream..beans and rice included on the side. My guy ordered the two taco lunch special w/rice and beans. Both of us could not finish our meals and took the rest to go..which was a welcome treat when we arrived at our hotel, late and hungry..and get this..it cost less than if we had gone through the BK drive through, which would have delivered sad dissatisfaction. If you're in the area of Mt Shasta, CA..and looking for a fast, delightful quality meal with quality service, don't hesitate. You...

I drive to this place to eat by myself because they have outside seating and it’s a nice day. I walk in and the male waiter says, “hello, how many?” I said just one and I’d like to sit outside please. He said oh no, sorry if you’re just 1 I’m not going to serve you outside. I was like, “what?” I was confused and thought I misunderstood. He goes, “are you with the tour bus outside?” I said, “no, just me.” Then he was like yeah, I won’t be serving you outside, I’m the only person working right now. I look around and he literally has 4 tables lol…are you serious? Because I’ve been serving for 20 years and I tip better than most couples for my service…are you that lazy? Outside is literally 5 feet out a door and it’s very accessible…it’s nice out and you have outside seating for what? I won’t be back again…terrible service…get a server with experience or one that isn’t lazy with attitude…money talks dude.

This is a really good place to eat, we were told by the desk at Best Western thought it was an OK place but that was a personal opinion not by the hotel. We looked at the reviews looked at the pictures and thought we would try it and we were glad we did. Irma the bartender and waitress was awesome with us, she didn’t say much until we started asking her questions then she was a sweetheart and an awesome waitress. The food portions are generous the taste of the food was really good, the salsa and chips were very good. We did not want a sweet margarita so she had made a margarita out of oranges lemons limes and tequila and it was one of the best margaritas we have ever had thanks to Irma. We did not expect to have that great of a meal so we were surprised we couldn’t even finish the food. I would highly recommend this place to try
