Our first time to this place (we were here several years ago w/different name of restaurant). Began with a Very Good chips & Guacamole our "party" of 6 adults & 3 small kids all shared & enjoyed their Guacamole & their salsa was also good! My oldest daughter & I both like Chile Relleno & decided to try & share a bit & I got 2 chicken tacos (Hard Shell) with rice & beans on each. We all ended eating the guacamole & I tried the Chile Relleno & it was Very much just a Fried egg taste & Nothing else..it was Very disappointing!! I was really looking forward to a Good experience & great flavors. Both myself & my daughter were completely underwhelmed by the lack of flavors (other than a fried egg taste) my chicken (Crispy shell) tacos had great flavors & presentation was very nice. However, I got very sick from something I had eaten, Before my chicken tacos & had to rush to the bathroom with extreme nausea & intestinal issues! When I returned I was only able to have 2 bites of my Goof flavorful tacos & just had to pack them up. Hearing everyone else around the table, at least 80% was disappointed in their food. The atmosphere was very nice, it was very busy when we first arrived around 6:30pm-7pm and we were Very hopeful it was so busy because of good food and maybe ours was getting near the end of their day? I personally didn't care for the beans that came with our meals, but my grandkids seemed to like them. I think they loved their rice as well. My youngest daughter (24) got a very elaborate meal to stay away from a list of allergies & they accommodated very well for her, but again..she was complaining of Lack Of Flavors other than saying "their crema sauce is what made her meal taste ok & Not be as dry as the rest of her food" my father-in-law will eat Anything & he didn't even finish his meal..🤷 The staff was Excellent here though. We had maybe a 20 minute wait to get seated, so, not too bad with everywhere packed! When we got back to our hotel, several (4) of us were very sick. I wish I could say None of us will be affected too long, but here it is & I am still sick in the bathroom at just before 6am the next morning & have only been able to maybe get 1-2 hours of sleep...I wish I had just stopped after a few chips & some guacamole! I truly hope this is just a rare occurrence & it was a random thing, because it was so packed, I would hate to think if a lot of others suffered the same fate as I did & the other 3 from...
Read moreLast night, nobody felt like cooking. I had mentioned to my Dad and Brother that I had a hard time trying to find a good plate of nachos in Upstate NY. I also mentioned that really good Mexican food was hard to come by back home. So my brother Angus, called up a friend of his from childhood, Russ. Dad and myself, along with Angus & Russ went to an amazing Restaurant, COA Mexican Eatery & Tequileria. As soon as we walked in the door we were politely greeted by our host, and shown to our table. Angel was our waiter, and he was excellent. He just didn't want his picture taken! We ordered a plate of Shredded Beef Nachos to get things warmed up. We also ordered a round of their House Margaritas. When the nachos were delivered, my heart skipped a beat, because those Nachos were a work of art, and I couldn't wait to dig in. There was plenty of guacamole and sour cream on top, with enough sliced fresh jalapenos. And believe you me, the Nachos were as good as they looked. I ordered my favorite dish, Tres Enchiladas. Three corn tortillas filled with shredded beef, rolled and covered with a green poblano crema sauce, topped with fresh greens, pickled onions and queso fresco. Served with rice & beans. When I placed my order with Angel I had asked him for extra jalapenos. He brought me three, whole roasted, jalapenos. I felt like I died and gone to heaven! Everything was outstanding! "COA Mexican Eatery and Tequileria serves made from scratch artisan cuisine in Skagit County. Named after the spade-like tool used to harvest agave plants which is used to make tequila. The owners, sister and brother, take pride in every dish using only fresh, local and natural ingredients. With flavors from their hometown, Durango, mixed with a culinary chef's perfection you are taken to their abuelita's kitchen with every bite. Our featured tequila bar showcases only 100% agave tequilas served in our crisp drinks or just to sip the fine aged flavors. We offer gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options. The warm atmosphere along with the staff makes the COA experience that much more unforgettable." (Copied from their website) I was unable to finish the food I'd ordered, and believe me, I tried! I was able to take my leftovers home that was a meal unto itself.
So, to wrap up my review. I highly recommend COA Mexican Eatery and Tequileria if you are anywhere in the Skagit valley. You will thank me...
Read moreWe ate here at lunchtime on a Thursday, and wow, this place was packed! Staff were great; the host and server were welcoming and friendly.
Once we were seated, house-made tortilla chips and salsa were promptly brought to our table. The house-made chips were warm, crispy and delicious. The salsa had a little kick to it, but not overly so, and tasted fresh with authentic herbs and spices. All three of loved these, they’re a must have.
Three of us shared Chicken Fajitas. Portions were large; we’re not big eaters, but we left feeling full and had plenty leftover. The fajitas had nice flavor, just a tad over-salted (in my opinion), but not greasy, and came with a variety of sautéed vegetables (zucchini, onions, mushrooms, peppers). The chicken was grilled to perfection and thinly sliced. We were given a choice of corn or flour tortillas or both, which were house-made and tasty. Depending how big of an eater you are, this could easily be shared between 2-4 people. These come with a separate plate of guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, rice and beans. At first, I was disappointed the beans were whole and not refried, but after one bite, I didn’t miss refried beans, these were delicious!
Atmosphere: I’d give it 3 out of 5. It’s open concept, so voices carry easily, it was quite loud, and the people I went with are hard of hearing, so conversation was challenging. Lastly, everything was very clean (cutlery, dishes, washrooms, etc.).
Keep up the good...
