We walked in about 9:25 pm (restaurant closing is at 10 and kitchen closing is at 9) after driving 10 hours straight and being super tired. We just wanted a couple of drinks to help us sleep. First, I watched the bartender check her watch TWICE when we walked in and again before making drinks, while trying to get her coworker’s attention. Second, I picked up a fast food salad on the way since they stop serving food at 9pm. Didn’t expect it to be a problem at all since, again, they stopped serving food at 9pm. I asked for a plastic fork since there wasn’t any in the bag. The bartender informed me that since they are a restaurant it usually isn’t okay for outside food to be brought in, but “she’d allow it this time.” Thanks, since I likely will never stay here again and will definitely have my drinks at one of the other options within a rock’s throw from their establishment if I do return to the area. I’m not sure why anything was said at all since it was after kitchen hours yet she still “allowed” me to eat at the bar then take all of my trash back to my hotel room’s trash can instead of making her clean it up. I am probably overly tired after the drive and a couple drinks, but I’ve also been in customer service over half my life and the comment just wasn’t needed. The only bright spot of the 30 minute visit was the drinks. However it’s hard to mess up a...
Read moreLooked for something different to try in Mt Vernon and decided on this place based on reviews. We were really pleased with the service, the food and the atmosphere. It was very clean and our server was really sweet and attentive. We ordered the pretzels with beer cheese as an appetizer and they were really good. I had the southwest wrap which was delicious, and I love that you can do mixed fries with both regular and sweet potato. My husband had the Gouda burger and said it was also very good. Portions were large so we both brought home half of our sandwich and most of the fries because they were very generous with those. We were there at an off peak time and it was very quiet. The only tiny complaint I can voice is that we did stand there a while waiting to be seated simply because there was no one at the front. There were only a couple of tables occupied so my guess is they don't staff fully at those less busy times. It wasn't a big deal and once someone realized we were there we were seated promptly. My only suggestion would be perhaps a bell up front at those slow times so staff is aware someone has come in. Overall we were very happy and will definitely be back. Prices were...
Read moreWas just here tonight and wasn't impressed by anything here. The atmosphere was old and plain, the service was mediocre at best, waited for our food for over 40mins. I know the waitress was new but still shouldn't have waited that long. With only a few customers there, it shouldn't have been this bad, ordered the NY Strip with sweet potato fries that was warm and baked potato that was good. Steak was on the tough side, with few bites that were tender. The drinks from the bartender that has apparently been working there for over 3 years should give it up. After asking if the bartender was good and the waitress saying yes the drinks are good. That's a complete LIE, The drinks were garbage. Old Fashioned was terrible barely drank any. The martini just taste like straight alcohol, tried charging an extra dollar for the martini that had to be disputed to be taken off bill. Also after receiving the bill, we waited for 10 mins for the waitress to come back to check if we were ready, and before I could dispute the charge. I don't advise anyone going there, but if you do. You've been warned. So disappointing for an establishment...
