To start, it's fine. Better than Olive Garden by leaps and bounds, no question it's a family restaurant. I kept it simple by ordering the famous salad and the full order of spaghetti and meatballs and I took advantage of the warm bread and butter. Both things to my mind are prime examples of what the restaurant hopes to show to the public. The warm bread and butter were delicious, but I held back some of it to eat with my spaghetti... It's a broke kid habit from back in the day. The server was efficient, kind and quite pleasant. The very first thing that came out was the salad and to be Frank, were it not for the tomatoes? I would have sent it back. It had been dressed too long, and the dressing was both acid and garlic forward to such a degree that I could not finish it. Despite that I watched several tables box up their salad and take it home. It must be popular and i'm sure folks love it, but to me, it was hard to take. If there were other things in it, such as croutons or black olives, perhaps some antipasti, it would have been more appetizing to me. I don't think that it is low quality, it's simply was not to my taste. The spaghetti meatballs arrived and a full order is about a cup and a half of pasta with plenty of sauce and two meatballs. The dish overall was good, the meatballs were very tasty, had a soft and fine texture and complimented the pasta very well. The sauce was bright and tomato focused but lacked salt, which was on the table, so no problem there. I ate the entire entree and I do not regret it. This isn't the kind of Italian place that feeds you until you pop, which i'm fine with because the quality is present. It's been around since 1939, so they're clearly doing something right, but if you have to talk to anybody after you eat, or you want to go kissin on your sweetie after dinner, either share the salad or avoid it altogether.

Ate Mazza's twice in the last week, both times were carry out, so I can't give a proper run down on dine in experience. Possibly following Covid19, I may update review and try inside. For the time being the first was for a company meeting where we ordered the family sized meals of spaghetti and chicken Alfredo, garlic bread, and the Mazza's salad. Plentiful food, all tasted great. The entire room was satisfied with the food. I personally didn't like the garlic bread, seemed soggy and to much garlic, but, others enjoyed it so perhaps just my own preference. Liked it so much the first time, ordered again today. Prices are reasonable, portions decent. $21 dollars for the current photos (spaghetti and alfredo) which I thought was fair and delivered fully once more on taste. Two for two. High quality food, and fair prices. A great home town business that I can see why it had lasted so long. I will definitely be getting future orders and hopefully try inside soon.

Had a nice dinner date with the wife at Mazza's in Mount Vernon Ohio. This is a family-friendly Italian Restaurant that serves decent comfort food at a reasonable price. The portions are large, the atmosphere comfortable and the wait staff is friendly. Our food came out quickly. My wife had the eggplant parmesan which she enjoyed. I had a burger which was good, but nothing memorable. Get the bread service as it above average, although you might have to ask for some extra butter. The booth seating is also recommended as they are large and comfortable. The noise level allows for easy conversation, which can be a challenge in many restaurants these days. Overall this was a pleasant experience... 4 Stars!

A place that makes things right, all you have to do is ask! My family and I went out to dinner dinner twice now to Mazza's. Our first experience was not great but our second time was wonderful! We did not have a good experience the first time we ate there. My husband ended up getting a hold of a manager, Cory and he made thing right! He offered us to come back again and let them make things right with a dinner on them.

Our first time going was on a Tuesday at 6:00pm. The place was about half full with several booths free. My family and I usually like to sit in a booth but the hostess indicated they were for reservations. We sat at a table instead and ordered pretty quickly. Our waiter, Chris was very good. We ordered cheese bread and calamari. Our cheese bread ended up being given to another table and our waiter apologized for the mix up. We continued to wait until around 7:15/7:20 until we got our main meals. Our waiter kept coming back several times apologizing for the wait and making sure we had our drinks full and extra bread if needed. By the time we got our food, it was so late, I asked if they could just box them up so we could go home. I have an 8 year old and we needed to get home to work on homework and start getting ready for bed. Also, side note, those booths they said were reserved... no one sat in them at all while we were there. When we got home to eat, my husband's and I's orders where not correct. We both ordered streak for our pasta but the steak was not prepared correctly and my pasta barley had any sauce on it, basically dry noddles. At that point, my husband was not happy at all. He contacted Mazza's and ended up talking to Cory. Cory was very helpful and stated he would have a reserved table for us for a night of our choice.

We went back a little over a week later on a Thursday night, our reservation was for 6:30pm. The whole place was very busy and they currently had an event going on. I didn't see many tables open. Our waitress was also very good, sadly I do not remember her name. Wait staff was not an issue for us at all! We ordered quickly again. Our appetizers were out rather quickly, mozzarella marinara and the Italian chips. They were both great, especially the Italian chip, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! We could have just got two orders of them and been done for the night. We ended up ordering the same orders as last time and everything was perfect. The pasta had enough sauce and the streak was made perfectly. Best part, we got our food in less than 30 minutes! We were out the door in about 45 minutes instead of waiting over an hour to just get our main course. Cory was good on his offer and comped our whole meal. We did end up offering to pay for one appetizer for good faith and due to have just a better experience this time! For such a busy evening, we had not issues at all!

I can say my family and I will be back for another meal. We will defiantly be ordering the Italian chips!

I think it says a lot about a place that makes things right! I am really glad we went back and gave it another try! If you have an issue speak up and staff will make sure to turn it around.

I didn't feel I could give the full 5 stars due to the issues from our first experience but I have a feeling this place will get even better with time. They are a pretty new place and the staff looks pretty young. I think they will progress and be a staple in our...

This was date night for the wife and I. We went out with another couple for a romantic dinner. When we arrived the parking lot was large and well designed for close access to the door. As we walked in we were greeted by very friendly and very nicely dressed staff. We made reservation for 6 pm so that we would not have to wait to be seated. We were seated promptly but... We were seated in the bar area not the main dinning area. The bar had no table coverings. The lighting was dime but that did not offer the felling of romance that I had heard so much about.

The main dinning area is dressed with fine table coverings and the room has a warmer romantic feel which is what I thought a reservation would have afford us. The server was very good. She was very prompt and friendly and again very well dressed and clean.

We ordered our food at 630 then visited while we waited for the food to arrive. During this time something I noticed was the background music. In the bar area they were playing more of a buddy Holly style of music which again did not seem to fit the romantic feel I was hoping for. I can not speak on what type of music was playing in the main dinning area but if it was the same music playing in the restrooms then yes it was more fitting to a fine dinning experience. While we are here let's do the restroom report:.

Restrooms were very clean. They were very comfortable and they fit the fine dinning experience.

We received out food at 7:15 which may seem like a long time but I believe it is because the food is made from scratch. I ordered the chicken parmesan and my wife ordered the spaghetti and meatballs.

Lets start with my meal. The presentation was less then stellar. The chicken was very over cooked and the breading was burnt at one end and very dark throughout the rest of it. The portion of spaghetti was very small compared the the bowl of spaghetti and meat balls that my wife ordered. I did not send it back because that is not something I'm willing to do on a date night. The flavor of the spaghetti that I did get it was well prepared and moist. To make sure the dark color of the chicken was not seasoning I tasted it only to find it had a burnt taste. Now for my wife's meal. Again the spaghetti was very well prepared with nice texture and moist. The meat balls were just exactly the way they should be.

Overall the experience was just ok. The build up of expectations from the first walk in the door and the classy well dressed staff made for a disappointing experience because of the bar seating and the less the stellar meal. I know this is not the experience Mazza's would want for their guests but this is the experience we had on our visit. I would like to visit again but not sure it will be any time soon. I'm sorry that I have no pictures but it was date night and I promised my wife no phone out on date night.

So in closing I only give Mazza's two stars. One star for the parking and very professional wait staff and one star for the warm and...

Pretty sucky :/

I was really really excited for this and after being hyped up for this Italian restaurant that is “really good” it was a total let down. Luckily, we made reservations for 6:30 PM on 6/23 and got there by 6:20 PM so the wait wasn’t long but when we sat at the table it felt like it took forever for our waitress to do everything, including breathing. ( 😂 ).

Order: My boyfriend: Carbonara (no chicken or add ons) and a Mazza Salad Me: Penne Vodka with Breaded Chicken. Shared: Mozarella Sticks

First issue? The bread was gross (almost stale tasting) and the butter was rock solid and unspreadable.

Second issue? My boyfriend ordered carbonara and salad, salad was ok and as I mentioned above the carbonara, all it was was nasty, gross, buttery pasta water that probably wasn’t drained properly and then bacon that was probably smoked when employees had their smoke breaks and just smoked the bacon with the nasty cigarettes as they tasted ashey and gross.

Third issue? I ordered Penne Vodka with Breaded Chicken. Upon asking “May I have Breaded Chicken instead of grilled?” Our waitress seemed shocked, dumbfounded and very confused that I asked that. So our order goes in...about 25 minutes later our entrees come out. Boyfriends looks OK. I look at mine VERY VERY CONFUSED because it had rigatoni...sausage....Breaded Chicken AND spicy sauce. Luckily I tasted it and so did my boyfriend both agreeing on NOT PENNE ALLA VODKA! So our waitress took 5 minutes to come back over and I told her and she got it fixed but within 10 minutes later I got my new entree and it was right except it literally was DISGUSTING!! Gross. It tasted like someone dumped nasty tomato water in a bowl, added 3-4 shots of vodka and plated chicken on it and called it a day. Now being 6 months pregnant, I knew it would be OK to eat because a professional (and anyone with a brain and common sense) chef knows to cook all the alcohol off a dish before serving it - nope. This was STRAIGHT UP VODKA + WATERY TOMATO SAUCE! Disgusting. So I told her it was nasty and she was going to get the manager over but instead we waited 10-15 minutes for this “manager” to come to our table but she never did. So I got to sit and watch my boyfriend eat a crappy meal while I starved. My meal got comped but our total was $30.66 and I have a $100 bill and they waitress was so confused on how to make change.

Such a bad experience. Don’t think we will be back for a bit. Also, too many chairs in the emergency exit!!!

(PS. Only thing good was the mozarella sticks and...
