I stopped in on āBlack Fridayā on my way to a medical appointment.
The Porterhouse Pub was open and had a few tables occupied, so there was no problem getting seated.
I noticed a bunch of slates with beer names and spotted a cider from Terramar advertising a Strawberry Rhubarb cider and decided I wanted to try that flavor combination. It was sweet with a little tart aftertaste.
For my meal I opted for the Porterhouse Cheese Curds as an appetizer and the Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich with fries for my main dish.
The cheese curds were nicely battered and fried and the housemade ranch was a nice accompaniment to the cheese curds.
The spicy crispy chicken sandwich was only crispy on the outside where the batter was applied! The rest of the chicken was tender and juicy. So tasty š. I didnāt think the sandwich was all that spicy, but that would be my fault because I eat jalapeno like candy and routinely use habanero hot sauce on my food. Even though I didnāt think it was all that spicy I did enjoy the flavor and crunch of the sandwich. There was a bunch of steak fries served with my sandwich. Excellent fries, but way too many for me to eat them all. I think I probably ate only 1/4 of them!!
I was very tempted to order a slice of the chocolate cheesecake with housemade fudge for dessert, but I was stuffed by my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWell.. the ONE thing I absolutely loved about this place is they have Real salt in their shakers.
I ordered carne asada fries but wanted the meat subbed out with adobada, cause it was on the special menu that day. She asked and said yeah we can buy it's $2 more. Okay.. whyy? Cause there's more meat. My total for my water and fries was $23.98..
Received the food and portion size was just to hand fulls of steak fries, then the cheese sauce was bland, there was not extra meat it was a sprinkle and I know beef is more expensive than pork.. smh I had to use that salt shaker multiple times to pallet it. The salsa verde was good tho.
She passed by and asked how it was and I told her it was over priced for what it was. Her rebuttal was "everything is made from scratch". I asked "even the fries??" Heh
She did give me multiple lemons for my water, which I really appreciated.
I got a box to bring it home.. but on the walk to the car I asked myself why I'm even bringing it home.. I would of had to force myself to eat it.. can't waste food, ya know.. Luckily, I passed a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was excited to try this place out as its got that nice cozy pub atmosphere. That wood slab bar is gorgeous! Great tap list dominated by IPAs. Me like. Friendly attentive bartender. Sadly the food was quite disappointing. My garlic and brie burger...sounds intriguing right!?... turned out to be a char burger matched with really strong red onion. That is all i could taste! š It was so overly cooked not one drop of burger to be had. I was starving so i just ate it. AND it really was kinda small. Ugh. AND the side of potato salad was also small and just super meh, and the potatoes couldve been cooked more. All for just $20. Double ugh. Add a $8 pilsner. And wham..$40 for a pretty lame meal and an overpriced beer. I will happily go back to the place a block away and have an awesome burger and beer for a little less moolah to boot. The girlfriend's tacos were "Delicious!" ... however there were only two, "so that makes it $10 for one...hmm... doesnt seem worth...
