Sawmill Saloon & Restaurant — Restaurant in Mountain Iron

My family and I(which consisted of my boyfriend, my son, me, and one of my sons friends) decided to sit outside in the enclosed porch on the patio. I went inside right when we got there and told the lady bartender that we had a table outside just so that someone was aware we were out there and needed menus. She said that either she would come wait on us herself, or that she would send somebody to wait on us 'shortly'.. Never gave me the menus and walked away... Not a problem at all.

From the time I got back to the table to the time it took us to get our menus was about 1 hour. If you are wondering "why didn't you just go back inside and remind them that you were outside waiting still?" ... Thi is why. There were about 3 different staff (I'm assuming they were all staff, but in hindsight I think 1 of them was just an observant customer wondering also wtf was taking so long as he was not wearing a sawmill staff shirt AND BEING FRIENDLY ) that came out and asked us if we had been waited on yet. So I figured every time somebody came out to us, which was about once every 15 minutes for that hour that we were out there waiting on menus I thought 'well somebody's going to come soon trying my best not to be'that person'. I'm highly un-confrontational and didn't wanna seem like a jerk..i know I know 🤦‍♀️If that can make any senseto anyone 🤷‍♀️ so yeah that's why I didn't go back inside and remind them we were out there.

When we finally did get the menus and ordered.. They forgot 1 drink, and never brought the waters...at thes point I'm just gonna list everything that made me give them the rating I decided to give. ... the bartender that they sent back out to deliver our food to us was so nice.. I wish I would have got his name...i will say, my salad was amazing. It was the honey barbecue salad in case you wanna try it.😉

So while we were eating, a different member of the staff came back out, and asked if he could 'take one of our menus and give it to a different table because they needed it'. which was fine..but he didn't ask us how our food was, or if we wanted anything else, or even any refills.. U know, like normal waiters do...so before he walked away we asked him if he could bring 2 more drinks back for my son and his friend.. ⌚⌚⌚ ...those never came, so we just went inside and asked if we could have the bill. The bartender that I 1st spoke w/about menus when we got there WOULDN'T ring us up. She claimed that she didn't know what slip was ours.ok? My boyfriend started to try to explain what items would be on our slip so it would be easier for her to find,but as he was talking to her, she walks away, grabbed another bartender and they went and literally whispered to eachother while staring at us. Some random staff came back and says "umm sorry".at that point I lost count of how many dif employees I interacted with! Sorry For what?!The bad service?the rude bartender we encountered who treated us like garbage?The hour wait to get the MENUS?!..the drinks that they charged us for but never showed up? So the least they did was take off the two drinks on the bill that they never brought. Also-There were a few ppl in there, as it was lunch time.. Just FYI.. So it was not busy at all. every time I have gone there ..which has been about two times before today... it's been poor service...guess it's my own fault honestly.

📣📣📣 I never ever complain on these reviews. I have never written this long of one ever. ...so I apologize , but I have never had this bad of service EVER. Especially with two 11 year old boys having to wait that long they start being obnoxious ...so it just kind of ruined the rest of our day and everything seemed to go downhill from there.I know what it's like to work in customer SERVICE, Trust me! sometimes it is hard to put a smile on your face and treat customers right when you're having a bad shift, but no matter what, you don't ever shit on people for any excuse u wanna use.. Sorry...

I was here yesterday and i am not impressed. The remodel is nice but the service needs a lot of improvement. My server Bobbi was super slow. First thing I ordered was my alcohol beverage and when I asked for lemon water I was looked at like I was crazy. Food was good but I also only ordered an appetizer and a side salad.

When It came to getting my tab. I paid cash. Now I have been shorted in my change at this location so I always double check it. Sure enough it was shorted. When I asked why I didn’t receive the proper cents. Bobbi my server informed me that my change was shorted because of 2 reasonings. First one being at the end of the night it takes staff too long to count the spare change. (Not sure how that is the customers problem) Second reason being they don’t have anything smaller than quarters.

Ok I understand both reasonings but than why not make it so all orders come out to be an even dollar amount. If I would have been informed of this I could have made my own change for the waitress instead of being shorted.

When I asked for a receipt for my records my server was annoyed.

Oh ya and when I went to use the restroom this is how it looked.

I guess with all the money they spent on the remodel they need to make up...

Very disappointing experience. It was a beautiful day so after checking which restaurants had their outside dining open we decided to go here for an anniversary dinner. They had prominently announced that their deck was open on their Facebook page. Followed directions on arrival by going inside and telling the bartender we were sitting on the deck and there were 2 of us. Waited a full 10 minutes then debated whether to go elsewhere but chose to go inside to eat. Since it was a special night we opted for the dining room instead of the bar area. The SiriusXM station was on so loud we could hardly hear each other. There were also a few tables/seats that needed to be wiped down. We found a clean spot and were greeted fairly quickly. Husband ordered a drink from their specialty menu- they couldn’t make that one so he chose something else. Got our drinks within a few minutes. Both were pretty bad, should have stuck to beer :(. Ordered our food which came in a reasonable amount of time. That was the only thing that kept this from being a 1 star review. It was very good and the portions were generous.
