Ordered take-out online, we have a few meals from area restaurants each week to support them and realized we hadn’t patronized the Village Inn. This review is for their takeout, as we have been usually happy with their service and food in house. We ordered the pot roast and the Friday fish fry, and two slices of pie. Found there was only one slice of pie and had paid for two. Nothing had been said upon pick-up. Wife had to go back in and ask about the missing pie and was told they were sold out, sorry. She had to ask if maybe they could refund it or maybe offer a different one, yeah...
After her treatment, I called in, and upon telling the gentleman what had happened, he actually walked around it inferring they might have possibly not mentioned to her that she shorted her food she had paid for, but they probably did mention it, as if she was lying about it and would walk out without a some settlement. When I pressed him why they wouldn’t offer our money back or ask if there was something else, he asked me if he should do something to make the order right. He needs to ask himself if customers will come back when they are unhappy with being charged and knowingly shorted and they have to ask to be treated like customers.
So, we open our styrofoam left over containers they use (not the nice trendy boxes others are using), and it wasn’t appetizing. (Wish I had taken pictures). For $40 some bucks for two meals, it just wasn’t good, not tasty, and it was presented like someone’s leftovers.
Wife had the fish fry, she was poking around in her leftover container and dejectedly said “They didn’t give me any tarter sauce either!” Not sure if she should of told them that it comes with tarter sauce, she paid for it, so pleeeeease put that in, or more likely they were sold out so they just sent the meal out the door...

The pancakes are a standout – fluffy, golden, and served with a generous amount of butter and syrup. Their pies, a signature item, are also not to be missed; I indulged in a slice of French Silk pie, and it was the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. Read moreThis is usually one of my favorite places so I decided to suggest it to meet one of my friends here for a change (I usually meet her elsewhere). What a mistake! I'm not sure what the sever's deal was but service was incredibly slow. It wasn't super busy and there was another server on the side we were on. We were there for 15 min before we even placed our drink order (both water), then another 10 min to place food orders even tho the waitress was at the tables next to us multiple times. Our food was OK, not excellent, but edible. However, my husband (at home) really wanted a bacon cheeseburger without fries so I ordered him one with slaw to go. I looked in the container quick before checking out and saw that there were fries and not slaw. After the massive wait times I didn't want to track the server down again so just brought it home. Get home and he opens the container to find it's a chicken sandwich with bacon, not a burger! I got charged for a bacon cheeseburger with slaw tho. Fries are soggy and inedible too. What a huge letdown!! My husband and I are very regular customers here, this was incredibly disappointing. Didn't see any of our regular servers, sure hope they...
