An obnoxious place! I would never go back EVER again! I don't usually write bad reviews for a place but this time I really feel like I have to say something. On Veteran's Day, I originally planned to study in the Mountain View Public Library which is a block away from this cafe. Unfortunately the library was closed. In search of a place to study, I walked to the lobby of the Performing Art Center which is attached to this cafe and was delighted to find out several small tables and chairs there. As soon as I sat down, this obnoxious guy from the Cafe came up and told me I was not allowed to study there. So I had no choice but to leave the lobby and walked into the cafe. It was small and noisy, decor was mediocre, not an ideal place to study and read. But I decided to give it a try. I picked a table and sat down. As soon as I opened my laptop, the same obnoxious guy immediately came up and told me in a very rude way that "this cafe is for customers only". I felt deeply OFFENDED by it! 2/3 of the cafe was empty, and he couldn't allow someone to sit here for a while before buying a coffee? It wasn't like I was going to sit there the whole day without buying anything; I would definitely buy something, and I just wanted to sit down for a bit and reply to some emails first before I do that.
In retrospect, that obnoxious and ugly-looking guy had the full intention of kicking me out of the lobby and forcing me into their cafe. What's wrong with a young woman sitting quietly in the lobby and studying/reading by herself? People working at this cafe do not care about customers at all and are rude to customers. All they care about is how to make money from you, and they're very short-sighted: they have already lost a...
Read moreAs a patron of Theatreworks for many years who has also brought multiple school groups to the theatre to see matinees, I was kind of shocked when my husband and I were kicked out of this cafe when we sat down temporarily to wait for the theatre doors to open. It was about a half hour to curtain, the cafe was not overbusy, and it provides the concession service for the show we were seeing. We were clearly there to see the show, which means we could have made a snack purchase as we have so many times. We may have been about to. Yet we were told to leave, as if we were unruly teens or being profiled as thieves. I wonder what it will be like the next time I stop by for a water or one of the many varieties of mentos or a glass of wine before a show? Will the guy who kicked me out for no reason just like take my money the way he has four million times before? Or will he remember that I dared to reorganize my purse on an unused counter of his "for customers only" establishment that he's running steps from the venue I paid over a hundred dollars to enter and ban me from preordering my intermission refreshments? Was he just having a bad day? Or does he lack basic customer service? In any case, it was an interesting experience and one I wonder if I...
Read moreJust had the worst customer service here. My family ordered a few snacks and 4 drinks, including a decaff and a normal latte. The lady understood "almond latte" and when she repeated the order, with a very thick accent, we werent sure of what she said and we repeated it was a normal latte, just for good measure. Well of course the latte didnt taste right and we went back to ask for the regular drink. The lady was rude beyond measure and refused to serve us what we paid for. She said "I said almond so it is not my fault". Well we could have said the same "I said normal so it is not my fault lady". I didnt have the heart to tell to her face that it was really hard to understand her as Im not that kind of person but it is utterly unfair to hold her customers responsible for their mistakes. I guess they must be struggling very hard financially to fight ciatimers this hard for their $3 mistake. I wish I could unspend and undrink everything from here. Few things feel worse than paying to...
