Iovino's Neighborhood Brasserie — Restaurant in Mt. Lebanon

8 of us came into the restaurant Tuesday evening around 5:30 pm . We ordered an array of different apps and entrees . We had the fried green beans that were good . We also had the Sea Bass App over polenta the fish was great the polenta was tastless !! Our entree was the steak two of us ordered the steak my brothers was good my husband and myself split a steak because of the apps and salads we ordered . Our steak was more than half FAT ! Our Server saw it took it back into the kitchen but could not do anything about it . She said to contact the manager the next day which I did. The manager whom was a man was EXTREMELY RUDE . I asked to speak to the owner he claimed she was not in . I then contacted the owner the next day as I am describing what happened she says well I'm not sure what I can do and in the background there were voices screaming NOTHING ! So I told her I can hear everything they are saying and she said well yea that's the cooks and they are upset !! She then proceeded to tell me well you and your husband did SPLIT A STEAK !! As if all that we ordered was not enough and we deserved a bad ENTREE !!!! She lost 8 of us and I hope none of you have a bad experience or if you do you spend ENOUGH because between apps dinners and desserts i guess we deserved to have been...

Had a great time checking out Iovino’s. They do not take reservations but have a full bar with seating, and a decent amount of tables. When I arrived, it was crowded and I believe we did get the last available table, but seating seemed to turn over and it didn’t seem like anyone waited too long. They have a full wine, beer & cocktail list, along with mocktails! Tried three of their appetizers, the crispy green beans, crispy Parmesan polenta and the arancini! All of the apps were delicious. I especially liked the crispy green beans which are not over the top crispy and served with a horseradish dipping sauce. The arancini was really good too, Parmesan crab risotto- breads & fries & tossed in a vodka sauce! It was really delicious. For my meal, I got the Chicken Marsala which is one of their entrees and comes with linguine pasta, crimini mushrooms, steamed spinach & garlic Marsala sauce. Then for dessert we split the flourless chocolate cake and the limoncello cake- both hit the spot! Service was a bit slow but considering how busy they were and we were chatting, it was fine! The food described on the menu is not what gets delivered to your table. My mom ordered the beef pot roast but with the mashed potatoes substituted with fries. This is how it’s described on the menu and website “slow roasted beef, celery, onion, carrots, rosemary, thyme, beef gravy, mashed potatoes.” What she got was a bowl of beef chunks with asparagus and French fries. We asked for a side of beef gravy since there was none and the waitress (Theresa) said “it doesn’t really come with gravy” ……. It literally says “beef gravy” on the menu. There were also no celery, onions or carrots. I ordered the crispy fish tacos which were bland and flavorless. the batter on the fish was undercooked and mushy. I asked for extra sauce (spicy mayo) and onions since those were basically missing (also in the description). Theresa brought the spicy mayo, but never brought the onions.
