If I could give zero stars to this place, I would!
My review isn't even on the food (given we didn't even get that far) it's on my terrible 1st impression of The Red Apple Cafe. Me, my husband & our 2 sons went there on a Sunday morning at 10:30am & to our delight they were only mildly busy. But our visit there was extremely short-lived due to the sub par service from the "hostess." Initially she choose to seat us in a corner on the left side of the restaurant which is all tables & a larger party with several screaming toddlers. Not that I mind kids, just that my sons are past the whole throwing food on the floor & screaming the entire time phase. Not to mention I knew my family wouldn't have been physically comfortable crammed into a corner like that.
When we asked to be moved to a booth instead, the hostess muttered something about how we "were taking money away from another waitress" then she threw 4 menus onto a dirty table at a booth & walked away without even looking at us!
I also noticed that the restaurant patrons were quite obviously seated in groups according to who they were (i.e. older people in the booths to the right and families with children all crammed into the tables on the left).
The staff working today was extremely snide over a simple request from a guest who wanted to be comfortable during their meal. And unless you enjoy being discriminated against from the moment you walk in the door, you should probably consider spending your money at real restaurant that's not totally staffed by disgruntled & entitled...
Read moreCame with my family for breakfast. 20 minute wait- busy restaurant. Happy to see considering this means people have $$$ to spend! :)
Some notes from my visit and things to consider for patrons: -I noticed the cooks were not wearing hair nets and hair standards for female employees don't seem to be taken into account. We ended up finding a gray hair strand on our plate for a chicken sandwich :(
-Chicken patty was not cooked all the way- it was cooked on the ends but near the middle there was still some pink, as if it was cooked medium well.
-We were served cold eggs cooked over easy :(
-Coffee was not fresh- it's busy so it's probably hard to rotate the coffee urns :-\
-for $9.50 a skillet seems to be a little light on the portion size, for reference you will end up getting more for your $$ at Sunshine if you order a similar skillet dish
On the bright side- food is super cheap! $60 for 4 people to eat :). In Indy- you might be lucky to spend $60 for two. Or maybe I just eat...
Read moreThe young, dark haired girl who was working the register never greeted me after I waited for a few minutes to even be acknowledged. I literally had to say HI after she walked up to the register and said nothing. I gave her my name for my to go order and she walked to the back. Another waitress(older, strawberry blonde) came out to ask if I had been helped. I told her I had, but needed to adjust something on my order. She went to the back then returned shortly stating that it was too late, as my order was already made. I got home and noticed that I had brown n serve sausage after she told me that was not the kind of sausage they had. Had I known that I would not have gotten the sausage. My home fries were undercooked and the pancakes were pre-made frozen pancakes. I use to be a regular at this restaurant along with my client. This place has severely gone down hill in service and quality. Very...
