Bottom Line-my daughter was fed a regular bun instead of gluten free as requested, and then we were treated like a nuisance when I brought it to the restaurant's attention
I'll preface this by saying, it was mother's day weekend & prom night for the local schools, so the restaurant was busy. We arrived with a group of 11 and were told it would be 15-20 minutes wait. After about 20 minutes, someone, who later identified herself as the manager, asked our group if we'd been helped. We said yes, and she asked under what name? No one had taken a name, and the manager wrote ours down. When questioned about the additional wait, she replied, "I just walked up here, I have no idea what's going on." Meanwhile the young man who's supposed to take our name is standing RIGHT next to her. Finally, after around 40 minutes, we were seated. We had 4 people in the party who are not able to eat gluten due to allergy. We were given one binder and told that they had limited binders and could we share, which we did. One child picked a kid's spaghetti and the rest of us picked burgers. I ordered for one of my daughters and requested nothing on the burger, including no cheese, lettuce, pickles, etc. About 20 minutes after taking our orders, the waitress comes back and says the gluten free binder is out of date, and they don't really have the spaghetti. So the other child chooses a completely plain burger as well. We wait for quite a while, and then food starts to come out. Ironically, the burger that was ordered last comes out first. Then the other burgers come except one. They all have everything on them, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles. I said no worries we'll just take it off. A few more people at the table get their food. Finally, they bring the burger for my older daughter. The plate has mashed potatoes on it, and my daughter said, "I didn't order potatoes." The waitress just shrugs. My daughter decides just to not eat the potatoes. She takes a bite of her burger, and then a second bite, and is marveling at how good it tastes. Then she looks around the table and realizes her bun is different than the rest of the gluten free group's, and that it's not gluten free but a regular bun.
She brings it to my attention, and I call the waitress over. When I explain the situation, she says,"I have to get my manager."
The waitress comes back with the lady who we met at the front of the restaurant. The manager proceeds to tell me it's not her fault because she asked the cook specifically if every bun was gluten free, and the cook said yes, so it's not on her. She says, "I'm not trying to make an excuse," when that's exactly what she's doing. Then she says, "I'll take her meal off your check." I said, "of course you will!" I'm not paying for you to poison my child. The waitress comes back to the table and I tell her I need our check ASAP, that my daughter is allergic to gluten and we are 3 hours from home, and it's going to be a long and painful ride home. I point out the four people in my family, and she says okay, then proceeds to go to the next person and try to break up the check. She's asking about to go cups of soda etc, and I'm like, WTH is going on? (on the inside) She steps to the next people and I stop her and tell her I don't think she understands, we need to leave right away and we need our bill. My husband pulls out his card and hands it to her, telling her to just run the check and he'll sign and leave. She leaves to run the card, and comes back, throws the card on the table, and says, "She (I'm assuming the manager) comped your whole bill" in a not nice tone. Not once did we get a sorry, it was all finger pointing at other people. I know mistakes happen, I've been having to eat gluten free long enough that this isn't the first time. I just feel the way we were treated after the fact speaks volumes to the way this restaurant cares for it's customers. Honestly, if we would have been treated better we would definitely have tipped the waitress. I would never eat there if you have a food...
Read moreMy husband, sister, and brother in law drove over to Muncie from Anderson this evening to enjoy dinner at Ruby Tuesday. Historically, we have enjoyed the food and salad bar. Today our experience was terrible. The salad bar was barely stocked when we arrived no cheese, no bacon bits, and no eggs. When asked we were told they were out of bacon and discontinued eggs from the bar. Waited over 45 minutes for our food only for the server to come out and tell us the dish my sister ordered (crab stuffed shrimp) was out of stock. Again 45 minutes into our wait for food already she was asked if she would like something else. She declined knowing that it would take another 45 minutes to get an additional meal. When our food was finally brought out it was not good. My husband ordered a Philly cheese steak and fries (pictured below) looked nothing like the menu picture and maybe had 5 pieces of onion and green pepper that can barely be seen under the cheese. Immediately asked for to go boxes to bring our food home due to the fact that it was freezing in the restaurant. The manager Dana never once stepped foot on the floor nor did she make an attempt to come to our table and apologize for the wait or explain way the servers were not told that they were out of certain items. I might also mention that there was maybe 20 people in the entire restaurant. It would appear to me that they have very poor management and very poor kitchen staff. Would’ve given 0 stars if that was an option and would not...
Read moreMe and my friend was in there last night. I ordered the New York strip steak sent on the menu it stated that is their best premium steak. I ordered it medium rare.. it arrived about 40 minutes later almost well done.. I'm normally not the one that likes to send anything back or complain.. however they were very busy and understaffed. The waitress was very nice but she was overwhelmed.. she had two large of an area to take care of.. she did blame it on the a new cook that the manager is aware of and not happy with.. she came back and explained to me that the New York strips are frozen and they would come out the same. So we swapped it out for a ribeye.. in which I believe I got a sirloin by the way.. ordered it the same medium rare. And let me tell you I got it beyond rare.. definitely had a lot more flavor but it was the most rare steak I have ever seen I could not eat it.. I had trouble getting refill on soda.. and they knocked off 25% off my bill.. which I didn't even eat much of my meal at all. I will not be back unless they get a new cook.. not a good experience for a Saturday night. Being in the customer service industry myself, I feel like there could have been a lot of improvements here. I sure do hope they get the issues straightened out to become a successful restaurant again. I am...
