The server Cheryl (I believe that's her name) has worked at the Sunshine Cafe for years, according to her staff mates.
First of all, our server was WONDERFUL!!! She told us about the menu, and about a few perks as well (you'll have to go there and find out yourself). The food is wonderful, no wonder they are packed!
The menu was fantastic, and they also have a senior menu with nice choices. We were there for lunch, the burgers are great and I have never had onion rings as good as the ones here! Pickles are on the side, a lot of them. I was in Heaven! My husband said his burger was awesome, as well.
The order pad slip you use to take up to the register is awesome. They are made out of cardboard compared to the regular super thin slip you usually get. Perhaps because most of the people I saw in the place were wearing glasses...take that as you want...lol.
Our server always checked back appropriately, filed up a second coffee crafe for us, and was just super nice throughout our meal. I ordered dessert, which was also very good!
All in all, if you don't stop in to the Sunshine Cafe when you're in Muncie, you've got yourself to blame for your next eat...
Read moreThe Sunshine Cafe offers a warm, homey atmosphere that makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The service matches the vibe to an extent—friendly, but with room for improvement. My server was courteous but seemed rushed as they managed multiple orders, which slightly impacted the overall experience.
When I asked about substitutions, I was told they weren’t possible for both of the options I inquired about. While I eventually found something on the menu that suited my tastes, I felt the server could have offered suggestions based on what I was looking for, rather than leaving me to sift through the menu again.
That said, the food arrived quickly, which was a plus. The bacon was perfectly crisp, just as I requested. However, the rye toast wasn’t quite what I had hoped for—it was pre-buttered (not my preference) and lacked the bold rye flavor I enjoy.
Overall, Sunshine Cafe is a decent spot if you’re in Muncie. It’s not a top-tier dining destination, but the reasonable prices, welcoming ambiance, and decent food make it worth a visit. A little more attention to customer service and details could elevate the...
Read moreI have been to many sunshine restaurants. I was very disappointed this time. I was by myself. 3 in the afternoon. Went in stood for 10 min. Waiting to be seated. They were not busy. I sit down. Ordered hot tea. She put it on the table took my food order and walked away. I had enough water for just over one cup of tea. I had one tea bag. I got my food then she was gone. I ran out of drink. Waited and waited. The other waitress knew I needed something. My waitress was in the off laughing it up and had been in there for at least 15 20 min. She came to me with eye contact and I ask her if they would charge me for coffee because I was out of tea. She said she would have to charge cause she gave me 2 tea bags. I seen only one. The other was on the floor when I left. After that she was gone. I paid my bill and there was no place not to leave a tip. I left he 15%.should have been 0. There was no effort to make me feel better . They at least could have knocked off tea charge . I spent almost 12. bucks on a cold plate because I waited . I do not charity. I leave good tips for good service. But you...
