Yummy buffet used to be amazing! We live a little over an hour away and we always tried to plan a trip to yummy buffet whenever we go to muncie. The last two times we have been there, it has been really bad. When we were there about 8 months ago, my fiance found a big hair in her food. We very discreetly told our waitress. She went up and told the manager. The manager took $2 or $3 off of our bill. That was it. No apology or anything. We decided to give it another try this past friday. We waited until after the dinner rush. That was a big mistake. Half of the pans were empty and when you would ask one of the employees if they were going to be bringing any more of that certain food out, they pretty much would look at you and roll their eyes like you were really bothering them. Nothing else got brought out. I went to use the restroom and while I was standing at the urinal, our waitress walked through the door with a roll of paper towels and a bottle of window cleaner. She seen me and turned around. Didn't say excuse me, sorry or anything. When we got up to the front to pay our bill, there was a younger gentleman from Jamaica paying his bill. He was trying to talk to the woman running the cash register and the hostess. They were both talking to him bad. After he paid and walked out, they started making fun of him. Kind of made me wonder what they were going to say about us when we left. To be very honest, I don't think we will be going to yummy buffet anymore. It has definitely went from five stars to one star in my opinion. If they are only going to have half of the food on the buffet when you get there, then you should only be charged half price. After the tip, we ended up paying almost $50 for the both of us. By the time we left yummy buffet and drove a little over an hour back home, we were already hungry again because there really wasn't much to choose from on the buffet. The food that was on the buffet looked like it had been sitting there for about 6 hours. I really do hate leaving this review because it was our favorite Asian buffet. It seems like they really don't care about their customers at...
Read moreI got food poisoning, on two different occasions, after eating at Yummy’s! Also, on another note, they stiff their servers. They make them give a portion of their tips to the owner after their shift. They also do not give the servers any tips put on credit or debit cards. They do not pay any federal taxes on the servers. They take out state, local and Social Security but not Federal taxes. Mei’s reason for this is because the servers keep the tips. However, she takes money from them and keeps the credit card tips for tax purposes. According to former and current employees the kitchen is filthy! They don’t clean anything. A server dropped a pan of cucumbers on the filthy floor and the owner had her rinse them off and put them on the buffet anyway. The owner is cheating the government and the wait staff. The wait staff are not signed up as independent contractors! They don’t get 1099’s they get W2’s. If they were independent contractors then the state, local and Social Security would not be taken out of their checks.
Mei, just sent my granddaughter, who used to work for her, a threatening email. She wrote it in Chinese but it translates to this;
You will get retribution for spreading rumors everywhere, it's not that you don't report, it's just that the time has not yet come 기 This woman runs a filthy restaurant, steals tips from her employees and doesn’t pay federal income tax for her wait staff. The waitress doesn’t get the tips that you put on your credit/ debit cards ~ she keeps them. She’s not a nice person.
Update: Mei filed harassment charges against my granddaughter because she responded to the veiled threat...
Read moreYummy Grill = Crummy Grill. Beware lunch scam, theyll charge you $14 for dinner, even if they say its still lunch!! First time in town was going to order from another nearby recommended Chinese place but drove by this one then pulled over and called to ask how much it was. Lady said 7.99 lunch price for 10 more minutes. I turned around drove there went in and asked host girl again was it lunch she said yes. So l get the bill and its almost 14 dollars. I said to Asian lady at counter l called first, and also asked the girl if it was lunch before sitting down..what happened to the lunch price? She says oh it's her first day supposedly. So whats that supposed to mean? Either it's lunch price or it isn't. I said what time does it change to dinner? She says somewhere between 3.20 and 3.30 like some vague grey area. So the cusomer can't know if the price is going to be $7 or $14?? She claimed my ticket was 'inbetween', its $13.70 or whatever, but says you can go back for dinner stuff now. After I just ate lunch. And the 'dinner' trays were all empty anyway. I just paid the $14 and was like whatever. I didnt expect a ripoff, after the hotel recommended it. Why not just say, oh we're sorry for the confusion and let the customer be right like other businesses do. But l must say other people in Muncie lve talked to are some of the nicest people lve met and l wont let the cultural customs and practices of others change that. And theres other buffets not too far that sound like they actually appreciate their customers right and have better food too. This place leaves you all dry, parched and...
