For several years, I have visited this cafe. Typically, I purchase the chicken salad to go. My family loves it. However, after today, I will not be returning. Two weeks ago, I stopped in. The place was busy, but I was happy to wait. After a few minutes, I remembered that my daughter had to be across town right then! I'd forgotten, and now she was late! As I hadn't been waited on yet, I hurried out. Today, I went in. The place was empty except for one booth. The owner took my order. Then, to my surprise, he told me that I had been rude to leave the last time I'd been there. He said it looked bad to other customers that I'd walked out, and that it had been bad for business. I was caught off-guard. I hadn't meant to come across rude! I apologized, stammering out about my forgetfulness and what had happened. He continued, "You saw it was busy, didn't you know you were gonna have to wait?!" Again, I was taken aback by his tone. Hoping to ease the tension, I apologized again. Unfazed, he said that I should have told him when I'd decided to leave. ---What??? The place had been so busy and noisy, I didn't think he could have heard me unless I'd shouted!---As he began packaging my salad, he turned to his assistant and said that I had cost him business that day. All right, enough. I finally spoke up and said, "Is it good for business that you are shouting at me in front of your customers now?" This time he heard me and said, "I'm just saying what I feel." I said, "And I apologized to you and explained my situation." At this point, (channeling a character from Seinfeld) he dumped my container of chicken salad out, and said, "No chicken salad for you today." I said, "or ever again." I met his wife on the way out. She could see I was shaken and asked what was wrong. I gave her the Readers' Digest version. She said, "That isn't like him." I said, "It was exactly him today. I won't be back." I don't know what truly provoked the owner's anger. The reasons he cited didn't seem to match...
Read moreI'm writing this review as I wait for my food, because I'm sitting here watching the employees. They are completely devoid of any personality whatsoever. The atmosphere is super awkward because none of the workers (which you can see all them over the short front counter area) have smiled one time in the ten or so minutes I've been sitting here. Also, I tried to make small-talk conversation with the lady ringing me out...she wanted absolutely no part of that, never acknowledged anything I said unless it was about ordering food. All business, no smiles or personality. There was only one customer behind me too, who also said he needed a minute before he knew what he wanted to order. Another guy waiting for food tried to come up and engage one of them in some friendly conversation. No one even looked up to acknowledge him and he walked away with an awkward look on his face.
The food came out about 10-12 minutes later. It was good, but nothing special and they clearly don't care about presentation. Just a breakfast sandwich slapped on some wax paper that was on a diner tray. The donuts were really good. We had a jelly filled, maple bacon (really good) and a cononut.
When the chef turned around, he had a tshirt on that pretty much explained our experience. It said "In Memory Of: when I cared". That about summed up the attitudes of all of them from our experience anyway. They had signs around the restaurant that seemed funny at first, but after we were done eating, we realized that they were true and very accurate... I'll post pics of them in the review. The sign that mentions their service and mood being based on my attitude was not very accurate. Turns out, it had nothing to do with me! I'm still happy though 😉😁.
If you take a look at the other non-five-star reviews on here, you'll see a lot of what I...

Speaking of the food, The BLT with egg is my favorite and the Philly Steak Sandwich is a must-try, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The gyro salad is another winner—fresh ingredients paired with that delicious gyro meat and cucumber sauce make for a refreshing yet satisfying meal. But let’s talk about their burgers—perfectly cooked, juicy, and topped with their famous bomb sauce, which takes the flavor to the next level. It’s no surprise that so many customers rave about it!
