Tacos are good BUT, actually really expensive. They close at 8pm on Friday night which is bizarre for a food place! I didn’t notice the time and the begrudging service since I came in around 7:30pm. 2 Birria tacos with cheese and the dip were over $10… the tacos aren’t supplied with two corn tortillas and cheese I between the layers like some Birria tacos. So they’re more flimsy to dip. Definitely tasted good but not amazing for the price and atmosphere. Makes it very expensive to fill up. Not impressed with the Mulita, the chicken wasn’t super tasty, more plain, and the mulita seems like two open tacos pushed together so it didn’t make it really different than a taco. I prefer Los Tapatios Taco Grill… they seem bigger and more filling to justify the price! I get it, you go out and expect to pay, but at least they’re more bang for your buck and really tasty and delicious. Not going to go back to Gordo’s especially since they close so early. NOTE: they automatically charge a “service fee”, mine was 15-20% of the price of the food. They don’t tell you. You just see it on the receipt so I recommend getting one…. Kinda lame. May be their way of fighting inflation, securing their own tips, and “operating costs”, but that put a sour taste in my mouth to seek out other taco places. Too expensive and not specular to compensate for the unsightly higher price. But they were “good” if you don’t...
Read moreI had the chance to visit Gordo's very soon after it had just opened and it was great then! But to my excitement, they really expanded their menu, including offering shrimp as a protein option (one of my favorite choices of protein for Mexican dishes). This time around, I ordered food to-go on a lazy Sunday evening which is so great because some of the other great places that serve Shrimp Burritos in the area are closed on Sundays!
I was able to try two of their menu items: the Shrimp Burrito and the Chicken Quesadilla! The Shrimp Burrito was toasted to perfection without overcooking the tortilla, and the filling-to-shrimp ratio was great. Nothing is worse than getting only a couple pieces of protein scattered amongst rice, beans, etc., so this was well balanced and executed. You can see from the Chicken Quesadilla photo that my husband got to it first, so I got to try a bit of what was left. The quesadilla was packed graciously with cheese and chicken, especially heavy on the cheese side! What I failed to grab a photo of was the delicious variety of sauces they had available to choose from! For my fellow spiciness lovers, you must try the orange salsa (Salsa de Habanero). It is DELICIOUS! Very robust flavor and adds quite the kick to your dish!
I'm so glad that such a delicious local Mexican food place is so close to us! Whether dining in or taking out, you're bound to have...
Read moreDriving through on our way home to Texas and craving tacos and beer. My husband and I been anxious to stop and check out the best tacos in Utah and judge for ourselves. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands down he tried the carne asada burrito absolutely huge and filled with plenty of meat and all the tasty delights. Along with a carne asada quesadilla and one of each taco chicken, asada and carnitas with all the trimmings and homemade salsas on point. My favorite Birria tacos were delicious the secret to what makes birria tacos so incredible is dipping the crispy tortillas in the broth (consome) which was amazing the consistency and texture and taste was perfection. I had to try the Mexican corn in a cup (elote en vaso) I can taste the freshness in the corn with mayonnaise, cheese, lime and chile. It’s creamy and insanely delicious. Try it and you won’t want to eat corn any other way! Clean welcoming atmosphere and ice cold beers! A must stop and try. We already planning our next trip and this will be on our list every time we in town for sure. Thank you Gordos Tacos and Beers 🍻😋 oh the drawing on the wall I love it. Brought back...
