My experience here last Saturday was phenomenal. First, I noticed how diligent the employees were. They walk and work quickly, and notice when customers need something without them saying so. Next, they were very generous. We were waiting for our food and since it took us a while to choose from their wide range of menu items, it felt like our order was late. Then, out of nowhere, we get potstickers on the house. Good potstickers, too. When our food arrived, they were delicious and authentic tasting—which says a lot because I am Japanese and I have had good, authentic Asian food. Shortly after we finished up the salad that was part of the meal, they came with another full portion of the salad! We didn't know that was coming. And when we were at the register about to pay, the busybody waitress handed us dessert, as if she was a caring mom saying, "you can't leave yet, you haven't had dessert yet!" We were dumbfounded by their generosity, quickly went back to our table to gobble up the best cream puffs we had ever tasted, and wished we had more money to tip them. Even without the generous service, the taste alone was enough to for us to leave more tip than normal. I kept on asking my husband, "um, can we eat here often??? It's so good!" as I ate. Normally, I would feel a bit guilty eating out because it's a matter of convenience rather than quality, but I told my husband "yeah, I can't recreate this," and he sheepishly agreed. It's a restaurant that made me wish we were rich enough to...
Read moreTook my boyfriend here to celebrate his new job at his request. The atmosphere was great, the waitress was incredibly on top of things, the portions are great, and I love the little sides they bring with the food! Boyfriend enjoyed the experience, overall.
For the negative part though... I knew in advance there probably wouldn't be much that I could eat here as a vegetarian, as is the case with many authentic Asian food places. No big deal to me as I'll pick at edamame or rice or whatever. I'm not picky. My boyfriend insisted I ask about a couple of dishes though to see if they were vegetarian. I was reluctant because I worried she might not understand what I was asking about, but I did anyway. She informed me that this one dish had fish cakes, so I opted for the other tofu dish with the only modification to not add any meat/fish to it. She seemed to understand...Or so I thought. Dish comes out full of fish, which I can't even stand the smell of. 🤢 So I figured I probably couldn't communicate the whole "no meat" request with her, and just picked at the other things I could eat and quietly asked for a box for the rest. Just hate that I had to waste money and food like that.
So if you're vegetarian/vegan and happen to end up here, it's pretty much just rice, edamame, and the inari on the sushi menu. Wouldn't chance much else. Would love to see more options in the future, like a veggie roll or tofu dish options without the inclusion of...
Read moreLied about the pricing! I've gone here multiple times before with a colleague for lunch, they have very good sushi that is usually half price. I came here today with my wife, and they changed their menus. The old menus would strikeout the full price and put the half off price next to it. The new menus did not have the strikeouts on the prices, so we double checked with our waitress that the same deal applied. We asked "is the sushi still half off," there was a language barrier so we asked again, "do we get half off of the price shown on the menu." She assured us it is still half off, when I paid however the sushi was full price. Confused, I asked her didn't she say the sushi was half off, and she said the menu already showed half off sushi. When trying to clarify, she seemed to not understand anything I was saying. I asked for a manager to help and she still didn't understand anything (funny that she suddenly doesn't understand). When I asked for a manager or owner phone number to call, she handed us the brochure for take-out and says, "phone number here." We ended up paying full price, including tip, for the food. I won't be eating here again, even though the sushi is good (if it was only...
