I wanted to love this place. I love trying new restaurants in Utah but I don't understand the mentality in this state of Utah making the most basic things and calling it good food that locals seem to get excited about. With a name like "Smoked Taco" I expected a smoky smell from all of the meat being cooked. When you walked in you couldn't smell anything other than a an empty room with 4 people in there. There was literally a sterile smell and you couldn't tell you were walking into a restaurant. If you have a restaurant called "Smoked Taco" it should be wafting with smoky food. What I got was 2 tacos with 90% veggies and bland dried meat. I had the "Bahn Fire" which was mostly veggies and small chunks of what looked like chicken jerky. The meat had no flavor and dry as sand.
I also had the "Memphis" which was nothing more than cilantro and veggies piled on top of 3 tablespoons of what tasted like pre packaged grocery store bbq. It was mildly sweet with a generic flavor. I could barely taste any smokiness. Hormel bakes better bbq than this.
They obviously do not "smoke" their meat onsite as it tasted like it was cooked offsite and smoke flavor added, frozen, then delivered to their store to sell $6 tacos. There is no way of telling how long ago it was actually cooked.
There was zero wow factor here and I definitely won't be back. Save your money for actual good food.
Service was friendly, but that's the only positive thing I have to say...
Read moreWent to The Smoked Taco in Murray last night (Sunday, August 24th 2025) with a friend and it was horrible. The floor in the kitchen was disgusting. and there was food allover the prep area that needed a wipedown. They were not busy at at all so imo the place should have been clean being there were 4 possibly more employees in the store at the time. The food was not good at all. My taco was smaller than normal and luke warm at best with a soggy shell (Fleeting Califoinian taco) I also ordered the chips and queso which was the worst I have had ever the queso was flavorless and had the nasty gooey skin glob from sitting unstired for sometime. I fished that out with my fork it was huge 2+ inches longand about three quarter inch thick! So gross. The chips were almost completely crumb scrapings from the bottom that were just greasy salty mess that I couldn't beleive they would give a customer to eat. After we left both my friend and I both complained of an upset stomach while we were shopping. My friend made me promise not to take them back there again. It was that bad! I have been to the American Fork location before and it was so much better I really liked it. This Murray location was so awefull, unclean and a letdown im not sure I would chance going to any location again. PS I have an iorn gut and for me to complain of an upset stomach...
Read moreI was excited to come here after going to the Saratoga Springs location. I placed an online order for nachos and specified “no meat”. When I arrived, my order wasn’t ready—no big deal, I don’t mind waiting. Then I got it, took it to my car, and took a few bites before driving home. It was already barely warm, but I would have looked past that since they are nachos; however, my third bite was just a chunk of meat. This has happened at previous restaurants (not often, but we’re only human)—I don’t hold it against them, it’s easy to let them know and other restaurants have apologized, made a new one, and I go on my merry way. I thought that would be the case here—it was not. I was told they were going to remake it, but then a staff came and brought the nachos I brought back in and said it was already meat-less. I informed that I definitely took a bite and that there was for sure chicken or pork in those. He then proceeded to ask if I wanted to pick through it with a fork to show them and I said “I’ll just throw these away and get food somewhere else. I don’t feel like I should have to prove that I took a bite of meat.” I’m assuming a manager stepped in and informed this staff that they were already remaking a new one. I was so flustered. I’m grateful for the manager stepping in, but I don’t think...
