Today, Costco kept me as a member because of a gentleman named Benji working at the Membership desk.
I ordered a tv with a bundle deal and got $90 off of a $450 tv, came to $386 w tax. It arrived with a cracked screen, I called and was told we are out of stock on that one but have another one for $30 more, not great but okay that’s fine. Employee on the phone said return it to the Murray location , pay $30 more and pick up the other 70” tv.
Lugged it out of the house and back to the store by myself ,1st lady told me she could honor the price but needed to refund the card the $386. Got the refund, found the tv for $480, $30 more than the first one I bought which was $450 at retail.
Okay I’ll get this one, get the $90 discount and will have paid about $37 more for a comparable tv because of the difference in retail price and tax. Again, not great considering part of the purpose of ordering online was so I didn’t have to go into store and carry a tv back and forth up two levels 4 times now and now I have had to do that and pay more money and spend more time doing all of this and was supposed to have a tv 7 days ago . It’s okay tho I’ll have my TV, nope.
Same lady who gave me the refund says she can’t give me the discount, so now I will have pay $120 more for essentially the same tv because I brought it back in store after it was delivered damaged and they can’t honor an online discount. Ask to speak to a supervisor and this lady essentially tells me the same thing as the first lady. Are you kidding me ?! This tv was broken upon delivery, now I’ve brought it back to the store and In order to get the same one I have to pay $120 more. Instead she suggests, I can go home unmount the tv that was delivered in proper condition return that in store then order them both online again to get the bundle deal.
No f*cking way.
I ask to cancel my membership at which point , another employee who has overheard me being disgruntled, steps in and helps me call the online portion of the company, explains that if I order again then they can refund my card so that I paid the same for the new, not broken tv as the one that was delivered broken.
Granted I will still have paid $30 more and gone through all of this and wasted about 4-6 hours of my time but I guess it’s better then paying $120 more for the same tv.
Cherry on top of all of this, I couldn’t exchange and walk out with the new one but I am able to order online for warehouse pickup and then wait another four hours for someone else to grab it off the floor and mark it as ready for me to grab. Unfortunately I don’t have 4 hours to wait today because I have to work and pick up children from school so I guess ill come grab it tomorrow instead of waiting till Monday for it to be delivered . Insanity , adjust your policies Costco.

Read moreThis costco location is very large yet always the LEAST crowded so shopping here is great! Parking is a lot easier here as well. Excellent Costco staff, super friendly and helpful every time. Always a great shopping experience. We buy everything here. We shopped there because it was the closest for about 9 years, but then we moved a little further away and tried a few other Costco's that were closer several times but have came to realize that the Murray Costco is by far the best one. The other locations were a lot less friendly and a lot more crowded. The people seem to make all the difference. West valley Costco doesn't exactly have super warm and friendly staff and the other shoppers even seem a bit harsh and not very friendly. Murray Costco is always a pleasant shopping experience. Thanks to the great staff and even the fellow shoppers seem more pleasant and more friendly and relaxed for some reason. We now go out of our way to keep going back to Murray Costco. As for Costco, in general, their return policy cannot be beat by any type of competitor. And it's also great to never have to worry about saving a receipt because they have everything you've ever purchased on the computer. The 2% back on the executive membership is the way to go. If you spend very much money on groceries. It's always well worth it and pays for the extra cost of the upgraded membership and then some. We always make our money back with additional bonus money to spare every year. Plus the Costco credit card earns some excellent cash back in addition to the membership cash back. Costco is the best place to shop hands down. I really don't understand some of the reviews that talk about rude staff. Are you sure you meant the Murray? Costco? Seems to me if you had a bad experience with the staff here, it might be more of a you thing. The staff here are downright phenomenal and can change a foul mood into a happy carefree mood every time I visit. Thanks for that. As for the customers that are annoyed that they have to check your items when you leave, that is really more for your protection to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Trust me, I know because I've left something behind and they were the ones that caught that. And as for the customers that are annoyed that they now have to show their membership card upon entry and at the self-checkout, you should be glad that they are doing that. I know I pay for a membership and it would frankly piss me off if someone got to come in there and shop at my store without having paid for that membership. They are just doing their job so be patient and let them put a smile...

On August 11, 2025, I had a troubling and unprofessional experience with a pharmacist named Wency and this Costco pharmacy.
I first spoke with Hyrum, the manager, who located my prescriptions in the system and told me to return in 30 minutes. When I came back, the pharmacist on duty, Wency, refused to fill them —claiming Utah law prohibited filling controlled substances from out-of-state providers. I cited Utah Code § 58-17b-609(5). She dismissed this, saying that controlled substances are not “legend drugs.” In reality, Utah Code § 58-17b-102(32) explicitly defines “legend drug” as any prescription medication, which would certainly include any legitimate doctor-prescribed controlled substance.
She also told me Costco policy required the prescriber to be in the same county as the Costco location— a claim disproven shortly after, this very afternoon, when I called another Costco pharmacy, and they confirmed that no such rule exists. Even more baffling, she suggested I might find another pharmacy willing to fill it, implying that another pharmacist might commit a state or federal offense — which makes no sense if Wency truly believed it was a violation of Utah state law to fill.
Within an hour, I further confirmed with a non-Costco pharmacy that the prescriptions could be filled without issue.
This proves the multi-layered refusal by Wency at Costco was not due to any legal or corporate limitation, but the result of repeated false statements about both state law and corporate policy, with contradictory explanations.
Whether through gross negligence or deliberate misrepresentation, this is unacceptable.
Patients deserve accurate information, consistency, compassionate care, and transparency — not personally-imposed and unprofesssional roadblocks based on what appears to be deliberately or negligently false information. Costco should address this...
