Sorry to say but what a disappointment. Giving this experience one star due to pay method, employee conduct, and cold food. Every Xmas we get loads of gift cards for restaurants. Most friends and family know a Chilis card is what we like because they have visited this place with us many, many, times. In fact almost every special occasion including birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations we have went here..And it's very close. We have often seen a movie at the Reading Theater then went to Chilis for dinner. The theater is in the same shopping center as Chilis. Most of the servers know us by name due to our repeated business. So getting that Chilis card has a real pleasure. Using it this time was not! So due to Covid, doing the curbside pick up has been our way of continuing to support this business. Ordering on line and doing the pick up has been quite easy. And it's real close. This time, when going to the online pay section, using a gift card you could not order curbside. You could only order pickup. That means you have to park and go inside. As always, as soon as I order, I leave and head to the restaurant. I'd rather be there early so I don't take a chance on the food being ready before I get there. This increases the chances of it being cold. I arrive and theres an employee who greets me in parking lot. He's ready to assist me and then says if you pay with gift card, you have to go inside. This is different then the last several occasions. Ok, no problem. I go inside and I see a bag on a table wrapped up with a receipt with my name on it. Theres no one in there to check me out so I wait about 3 minutes. Still nobody. Ok I go looking for a employee. I find a Male and female standing near where the food is prepared. They were having some kind of deep conversation and they acted very surprised to see me. I recieved a very unwelcome and discourteous greeting. Like what are you doing here? I explained I'm here to pick up my order. They said someone will be there to help you in a minute. I returned to the checkout area. In a few more minutes the female I saw in the back came out to check me out. I said something to her like I thought the order was free since no one is here so I could pay. I dont want my food to be cold. She just made jest of the issue. Not the kind of response that I would expect. I got home and all the food was cold. It had started raining outside and I didnt want to go out again to ask for replacement food. So I microwaved what I had and dealt with it. I tried calling the restaurant to talk to a manager but no one ever answered. There was a order confirmation sent to my email with a attached review for their service. I did fill that out. It's real sad that a few bad employees can change your opinion about a place you have been going to for years. Maybe they just dont care. Maybe there not getting tips like when there was eat in dining. So why be kind to the customers. But I do care and I'm am very disappointed. If I didnt have $200 dollars worth of Chilis gift cards I probably wouldn't go back there. But I do. Theres a Applebees restaurant about the same distance from my home. If the rest of my $200 worth of Chilis experiences are not better I guess I'll be asking for Applebees gift cards in the future! Hey I like...
Read moreUnfortunately this particular dining experience was the most horrible ever. We had sketchy service before but we decided to give this place another try, what a big mistake! I don't even remember if the server/hostess introduced herself or not but her demeanor was a little flat. After a while we received our entree before the appetizer. The server seemed confused and took our entrees back and apologized and said he would bring out our appetizer. I've noticed lately how the person who takes your order is not the person bringing out your food. After we had our appetizer, one of the floor managers brought our entrees and was very apologetic and she seemed very sincere which we appreciated. Our hostess or order taker, just checked on our drinks - she seemed so nonchalant about our service. Things seemed to go well until it was time for dessert. We got our hostess or order's attention and let her know we were ready for our dessert and we upgraded to a molten lava cake after she told us that we could do so. Here is where intense drama began. We sat and waited, and waited, we watched a family get seated, got their order taken, and their appetizer served to them and we still did not get our dessert! All this time, our order taker / hostess never checked on us. We couple who sat right across the way from us, sit down, get served Margaritas, take their order, eat, and still we had not received our dessert. I checked the kiosk on the table for our bill and saw that the desert was actually on there so the order had been placed but now it's 30 minutes later and we still don't have it. Finally I spotted the manager, got up and approached him, asked where our dessert is. Nobody could offer an explanation as to why we were not served our dessert after 30 minutes. I informed the manager that we needed to leave and if they wouldn't mind giving us our dessert to go, to which he agreed. After about 5 minutes our hostess or order taker came out with our dessert right after the manager approaches and said he would take $15 off of our bill. She sat the bag on the table took my card and walked away, not very apologetic just more concerned that she did put the order in; she just kept saying very curtly "I don't know what happened", more like "it's not my fault" attitude. All she was concerned about was that she did nothing wrong but still did not know why or what happened to our dessert order. Upon leaving I glanced in the bag and noticed that what we actually had was a cheesecake with chocolate syrup and toppings. That was the straw that broke the camel's back but we did not cause a scene. I simply walked up to the manager and let him know that this was not what we ordered; he offered to fix it, but we were upset and done at this point. We told him nevermind and left. Unfortunately this particular dining experience was the most horrible ever, and it was supposed to be date night. Suffice it to say, we will not be dining at Chili's on Cal Oaks in...
Read moreAbsolutely disappointed. We wanted to order take-out for my wifes birthday, as we didnt want to sit inside the restaurant yet (Covid-19), nor sit outside and deale with the heat and bugs, so i went to order online like I've done before and I kept getting an error message about "the site not being able to communicate with the restaurant???" So, I called in my order (check # 40014). Sadly, the young lady that took my order (Shannon) put the wrong name on it as Jordan (mine is George) and I even spelled it out for her twice (she asked me for the Name on order and the name on the Card), so not only could they not find my order right away, my card was also declined because the name was wrong. My order was placed at 6:19pm, promised out by 6:32pm. I arrived at 6:40pm just to give them a little extra time to get everything to perfection, as they have before. I don't know what happened tonight, but I pulled away with my order at 7:22pm, after them finally finding it and having to re-run my card (same card, by the way) to get the order paid. I was sitting there long enough to see my wife get off the freeway, after coming home from work IN VISTA!
So, I finally get my food home and everything was soggy. I ordered the Mexican Eggrolls (full side order), they weren't cut in half on the diagonal like they're supposed to be and absolutely no crunch to the outer tortilla (completely soggy). I ordered 2 Just Bacon Burgers that were soggy and the outer bun was hard from sitting and the fries were COLD. 2 orders of the Margarita Chicken, both Cold. Only things that weren't ruined was the sampler appetizer and the drinks that came with the four "3 for $10.00 meals. Not to mention 2 of the "3 for $10.00 meals ordered came with chips and salsa... Got the salsa, NO CHIPS. Absolute WASTE OF $82.00 Bucks. I think service like that and handing a customer food that you know has been siting out is unforgivable and seeing that 90% of what i paid for was ruined and couldn't be enjoyed, I deserve a refund with the exception of the...
